The Ever-lasting Doughnut

About two weeks ago during my run, I noticed something very strange amongst the foliage: a chocolate-frosted doughnut with sprinkles. It was in “fresh-out-of-the-box” condition; it appeared as if someone had chucked out the window like a tiny edible frisbee. If I were a true environmentalist, I would have picked it up and properly disposed of it, but I really wasn’t in the mood to tote a dirty pastry for the remainder of my run. Anyway, over the next few days, I kept noticing it…apparently none of the wildlife wanted anything to do with it either. I spotted it again today–shockingly, it still appears just as it did on day one. Crikey! How many preservatives are in that thing? It’s little experiences like that make me realize why I’d rather stick to my fruits and veggies…

In lieu of chemically-preserved pastries, here is what I have been fueling myself with today:

I apologize for the repetition…except not really. The choco-straw-nana is damn good and worthy of frequent consumption:)

Return of the Banana Dog. Next time I should get more creative with the toppings. Any suggestions?

After a tough day of class and lab, I rewarded myself with a phenomenal meal, one of the best I’ve prepared in a while. All the components of this meal just tasted so fresh. I got the idea for the salad combination from The Imus Ranch Cookbook.

Go on, take a bite:)

I spent much of the afternoon studying for my test on Wednesday–it’s all that separates me from the 4th of July holiday! Eventually, I took a break for dinner. I combined chickpeas with garam masala, garlic, ginger, mushrooms, and a bit of tomato paste.
