A Few of My Favorite Things
Forget raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens—these last few days have been filled with a few of my favorite things: cute new kitchen gear, nut butter, lunch at the Refectory, and homemade hummus. Check it out:
Look what Mumsy got for us– bag full of ChiO-tastic kitchen gear. It even matches my existing red kitchen decor.
After my string of OIAJ, I have restocked by nut butter supply, thereby giving me the opportunity to use my handy-dandy nut butter mixer.
As you might have guessed, Seth and I have continued to spend a lot of time together since my last post. Last night’s agenda included a viewing of Away We Go…and making homemade hummus. Seriously, this guy is too perfect for me.
Here’s what I’ve been munching on since you last heard from me:
Thursday
I went back to basics with my oatmeal yesterday morning: banana oatmeal with almond milk and almond butter. Quite an appropriate meal, as I studied up for my presentation on bananas.
Once my presentation was complete, I headed home to have a quick lunch before heading out for some quality time with Seth. This TJ’s Carrot Ginger Soup is becoming a Broccoli Hut favorite.
As I mentioned above, Seth and I made some pretty rockin’ hummus last night (using a Magic Bullet, no less). We kept the recipe simple for this version…I figure I should wait at least until the fourth date before I unleash my crazy recipes on him:)
Friday
It’s been close to five days since my last smoothie. FIVE. That’s gotta be a record. I alleviated the withdrawal symptoms this morning with yet another Smoothie In a Bowl. Yum.
For lunch today, I met Kristen at The Refectory, where I got my usual vegan chili and salad with red wine vinaigrette. Due to my association with the dining committee, I also scored a free vegan mocha muffin. Can’t wait to try that!
Now, I am off to nap for a bit before heading out to a round of mini golf with Seth. Have a fab weekend, everyone!

Hello and welcome! I have created this blog for people who love food, especially healthful, vegetarian food.
I have just graduated from Duke University with degrees in English and psychology. I plan to pursue a master's degree in nutrition starting in Fall 2010. Ideally, I would like to combine my love of food and the written word someday as a health writer.

OK, where have I been? I feel like it’s been months since I’ve last ‘talked’ to you since I’ve missed out on so much that’s happened in your life! We’ve gone from ‘Treadmill Buddy’ to ‘Seth’? That’s awesome! He sounds like a great guy and the perfect match for you. If he likes making hummus, brings you flowers, keeps you company after picking you up from the airport and watches the same movies as you, he’s a keeper! I’m so happy for you, Caroline!
Have a great weekend and have fun with Seth
BTW, love that TJ’s soup!
I’m so happy things are working out with Seth! I hope the advice everyone contributed before your first date helped!
CUUUTE kitchen decor!
That guy sounds amazing – keep it up!
Go drink a smoothie – NOW!
I’m so happy for you! Seth sounds like he is a keeper!
That is a cool nut butter mixer. Where did you get it?
Perfet fella, perfect eats. So happy for you!
Bananas are fattening? hah I laugh.
i’m so happy things are working out with your “treadmill buddy”! He sounds like a fun guy!
And cute kitchen ware!!
Oddly I can’t stand hummus unless it has TONS of garlic in it in which case I’m all over it
I find most people are the other way around.
I have been keeping an eye out in stores for that stirrer but no luck! Maybe for Christmas
I love hearing about your relationship with Seth! It’s so cute and reminiscent.
I need one of those nut butter stirrers! My nut butters are all naturual or organic (and I want to make some homemade), but they get really dry because the oil goes to the top. Where did you get it?
sometimes the basics are the best
(i.e… your oats!)
& i am lovin the sound of that smoothie friday morning, yummm
hope you have fun w/ seth!
xoxo
