A Foodie Playground

Yesterday afternoon, Seth and I headed to the legendary North Carolina State Fair. While the fair is widely known for its vast array of fried food options (see below!), I never expected it to be such a “foodie playground”—there were cooking demonstrations, tents devoted entirely to local food, and of course, hundreds of vendors offering the latest in fare cuisine.

What’s your favorite fair/carnival food? I really love those giant soft pretzels!

I didn’t have any fair food, but I did manage to wolf down some good eats this weekend…

Saturday

Yesterday’s brunch meal was an Italian-inspired egg white scramble. So why didn’t anyone tell me that Laughing Cow is so delicious when cooked with eggs?!

After all of our fair-flouncing, we headed to Zest for dinner. Zest is actually a cafe as well as a home art store. I got a chance to browse through all their dishes as we waited to be seated at our table—food and cute dishware? Score!

I was still hungry after our meal, so we headed next door to Fresh Berry for dessert. Yum.

Sunday

Breakfast this morning included a triple-fruit combination: banana, peaches, and cranberries.

After running some errands, Seth and I got hungry for lunch. He went to Chipotle, but I headed to my favorite Green Tango.

By the time I returned to my apartment, I wasn’t much in the mood for cooking, so I slapped some hummus on bread and called it dinner.

Alright, we have some pumpkin-carving to do. Good night!

  7. Now that’s an event that I couldn’t stand to miss. I wish we had something like that around here. Though that Krispy Kreme burger is slightly terrifying haha.

LOVE laughing cow and egg whites. Best wrap combo everrrr

  8. Krispy Kreme burger?? Wow, ha. I don’t know how people come up with such crazy things.

  9. Mini donuts all the way! I cannot go to the PNE (our local fair/exhibition) without buying a bag. My parents even brought some back for me when they went this year. Yum. Although, I’m oddly intrigued by a deep fried oreo, and would probably order it once just to say I tried it.

  10. What a fun few days!
