A Little Less Wimpy, Part 2
Early last spring, I posted about my slight decrease in wimpiness, as a result of running outside in the damp, rainy weather. Generally, if it’s not between 50-75 degrees and sunny, I head straight to the treadmill for my daily fix of running euphoria. However, when I am at home I do not have this luxury due to the fact that I do not belong to a gym, nor do I own a treadmill. Alas, today presented another challenge to my identity as an “outdoor exercise wimp” in that it was 35 degrees, and windy. Nonetheless, I donned my new shirt and faced the cold like a big girl:
Although I muttered a few expletives under my breath when the wind got intense, it was actually an enjoyable and quiet run. I did a quick 4.5 mile loop and returned home for some ellipticizing. Are you as much of a wimp as I am when it comes to facing the elements for exercise?
Here’s how I’ve been keeping myself warm today:
Wednesday
Peach-pineapple smoothie. ‘Twas amazing. Why? It was delicious and alliterative.
Thursday
You better believe I headed straight for the oat bran box after my chilly run this morning. I needed warm comfort food, pronto!
After running some errands with Mumsy, I came home for a simple black bean burrito. This one was particularly delicious because I loaded it with mashed avocado.
It’s been over a year and a half since my last spaghetti squash experience. Tragic, I know. Hence, this evening’s crazy-veggieful supper.
Now I am off to recover from my overwhelming feeling of fullness. Damn you veggies, you taste too good.
Have a lovely evening, everyone.

I always thought it’d be exciting to run in the rain. I’m too much of a wimp to actually do it though. Some day maybe!
Haha love how you’re rockin’ that shirt
I WANT 35 degrees… the other day I ran in “feels like 11″ and decided that if it ever got that cold again I’d tay indoors. 11 is way too cold
P.S. Cute cute shirt!
I’m a big wimp too! I really miss running outside but now our days have a high of 30 degrees and I just can’t!!
LOVE the shirt. Seth is too too cute! I am pretty brave when it comes to running outside because we all know I sweat buckets but I’d rather not because I get rather asthmatic in the cold. Still jealous of your wrapping technique (wraps not presents haha).
I used to run in the frigid winters in college (I went to school in Wisconsin!), but I am definitely a fair weather runner now! I try to do more outdoor winter sports now. Cross country skiing is awesome in the winter!
I had a nearly identical dinner tonight (spag squash with tomatoes, Brussels sprouts, and artichokes). So good!
you look adorable in your new shirt
& yes i am such a wimp!! if it is too cold or too hot i just resort to the treadmill
I’ll admit I’m a cold weather wimp! If I can go to the gym and be toasty inside I will! When I was at school I used to play lacrosse in the freezing cold and mud but definitely not these days….Num num, food looks tasty as per usual, loving your supper- that salad sounds great. Do you toast your nuts? If so, how do you go about it? In the micro, or stove? How long for?
Stay warm chicka,
lots of love xx
wow I love your food, you have also inspired me to make tofu salad!! I can;t wait to make it I am going to look back at some of yoru recipes, I know it will be delish becuase I made the banana tofu french toast stix from yoru recipe which were awesome!!
love that shirt
Deliciousness! I am thinking a black bean burrito will be on my lunch menu now
I HATE running outside when its cold. But I may hate the treadmill more
Def try the graham pancakes- soo tasty. I would actually replace even more of the flour with the graham crumbs next time. Maybe 1/2 cup flour, 1 cup graham
Your new running T is so cute! I have to fight with myself to run outside when it’s cold, too. But I hate the treadmill soo much that I usually end up outside.
girl you are my hero. there is absolutely no way i would be running in 35 degree weather haha. unless i was being paid to do it OR dressed like the abominable snow man
i have a spag squash waiting to be opened! weee
I love that shirt! Seth knows you so well!
And dinner looks amazing.. I love how versitile spaghetti squash is!
At least a fiber baby will go away quicker than a carb/sugar baby?! You’ve inspired me to pick up a spaghetti squash!
yay for getting outside! it’s all about the clothing. hat, gloves, jacket! is that shirt technical material?
Your candy cane plate and placemat are adorable! So festive!
the shirt looks so dang cute on you. the only exercise i do outside in the winter is snowboarding~and i am bundled for that!
I avoid running outside like it’s the plague. Then again, today it’s 0 with the windchill, so I feel justified
Please, my wimpiness puts yours to shame. I NEVER exercise outside! I also don’t run, but still, I’ve been known to really enjoy long power walks, and I won’t touch em this time of year. I cozy up to the DVD player and Jillian Michaels instead. No shame!
I running inside like its the plague! I hate when it gets cold – it has to be 30 degrees or less for me to run inside.
I wish I lived further south where running outside would be possible for more of the year!
yup, i can be an exercise wimp. too cold or rainy = exercise indoors! like today, it is in the 30s and raining and windy, and i will not be running in that! 36 isn’t too bad w/out rain though….i’ve done that before, and its better than not running at all. but 50-75 is definitely optimal running weather! i hope you wore some gloves!!
