A Peek into My Pantry
In recent weeks, “fridge shots” have been floating around the blogosphere. Perhaps what makes these photographs so interesting to us foodies is that a refrigerator’s contents reveal a lot about a person: his or her tastes, attitude toward health, and even organizational habits. In essence, a “fridge shot” is a little peek into the person who owns it.
In addition to the personal aspect of these pictures, there is also a practical side: they provide insight into what comprises a nutritious diet as well as effective ways to organize foodstuffs for maximum efficiency while cooking.
The video below provides a glimpse into how my parents an I maintain healthful diets…and how I blissfully categorize it all:)
Seen elsewhere around the B-Hut kitchen:

the bar basket

the infamous nut butter stash

...and a cookie jar?

pshaw! it's the Spirutein jar--my kind of goodies:)
What’s in your fridge, and how does it represent you? How do you keep it all organized?

I loved this. It seems as though you are a purchase ahead type people-I know that I only shop by a few meals out and go from there. I found it kind strange that you didn’t store your flax or other nuts in the freezer. I’ve just always gotten in the habit of that because of their spoiling rate form all of the lipids within them. Maybe they would be fine in our pantry…I’m not sure.
I love getting good finds at the farmer’s market as well. I used to work at an orchard that goes to the farmers market to sell their harvest in the fall, best Honeycrisps ever.
I don’t know why but my favorite quote from this was, “…squash from the farmer’s markets, pretty psyched about that.” It was funny because you were going through the inventory and just kind of zinged that one in there
Love your stash!! My fridge is filled with fruits, vegetables, Sun Warrior protein powder, and condiments.
You’re right about keeping nuts and seeds in the freezer–that container of flax is unopened, seal unbroken. Once I bust into that canister, I’ll keep it in the fridge. As for the nuts, I go through them fast enough, that the oils don’t often get a chance to spoil;)
Your mention of Honeycrisps makes me want fall to come–I LOVE apples!
alas, I do not eat them as swiftly. I get bulk from WF then stash them out in the freezer. It’s good if I need a lot of them for a recipe or a little of them for miscellaneous use.
Wow, all your goods are so organized! I’m so jealous of your large cabinet space and fridge. If only we had more room I could keep my foods that way
Although I think I do take up most of the space out of the 4 of us…
We keep things somewhat organized similarly to yours–salty, leftovers, condiments, veggies, bread, etc. I keep a ton of kombucha, veggies, yogurt, leftovers, & tofu in the fridge. Nut butters, milk, granola, and grains the cabinet. Veggie burgers, froyo/ice cream, frozen fruit, and bread in the freezer. What this says about me? I go grocery shopping way too often
I couldn’t watch the video cause it was just taking way too long to load on my computer but I love your nut butter stash, it puts my current one to shame! And it looks like you have lots of peanut butter and company, which in my opinion, has the best flavored peanut butters in the world!
Caroline, I am so BEYOND IMPRESSED by your collection as well as organization skills… I especially loved your wide selection of nuts & dried fruit in the pantry along with all those nut butters! I have to say, my fridge is never that stocked! Thanks for the video – it gave me more helpful ideas than any fridge/pantry post has ever given me! And I think I could listen to videos of you talking about food all day. You are quite funny and entertaining!
this was such a fun little tour! thanks for sharing
I think that PB basket is the greatest thing I have ever layed eyes on. EVER.
Nice pantry! Mine is so ridiculously unorganized right now, I don’t even want to talk about it
oh this is a fun post! i love the spirutein jar, haha you are awesome. thanks for giving us a glimpse into your pantry
I think hummus, wraps/pita bread, actual bread/english muffins, nut butters, salsa, veggies and fruit must always be stocked in my kitchen!!
