(Accidental) Early Birthday

Yesterday evening, I returned home from running errands to find a package at my doorstep. As a food blogger, I have grown accustomed to occasionally receiving surprise goodies to be reviewed on the blog. Accordingly, I assumed some company had kindly decided to send me such a package; I opened it up to find this:

At first, I thought perhaps the sender was a fellow blogger, making reference to my Blogspot name, ChickPea. Then, my dad piped up and suggested it was something my mom had ordered as a Christmas gift for me. Finally, I had the bright idea to look at the card enclosed inside. Apparently, it was intended to be a birthday present (still 8 days away)…from Seth.

Crap.

Two weeks into the relationship, and I’ve already screwed up. Although I contemplated wrapping it up and pretending I hadn’t seen it, my guilty conscience got the better of me, and I told Seth the truth. He seemed disappointed that I had ruined my own surprise but told me to go ahead and enjoy it. I plan on making good use of it on my morning run tomorrow:)

Have you ever sneaked a peek at a present (accidentally or not)?

Aside from obsessing about the aforementioned blunder, I did manage to cook up some tasty eats today.

Tuesday

As I await my Spirutein supply to arrive in the mail, my nightly smoothies are becoming rather redundant. Still tasty though.

Wednesday

It was 11:30 by the time I got around to eating breakfast this morning. Hence, I just threw whatever looked good into a bowl. Several additional handfuls of raisin bran *might* have been consumed too…

For lunch, I consulted yet another cookbook I received for review, Tosca Reno’s Eat Clean Cookbook. I opted to prepare the Black-Eyed Pea Soup, featuring mucho veggies and potatoes. The result was pretty awesome, despite my not having all the ingredients on hand (most notably parsley). I also added toasted walnuts for some crunch and omega-3 action.

The afternoon was occupied by gettin’ mah herr cut, plus a trip Whole Foods. My tummy was beckoning yet again, so I made a quick Ginger Peanut Tofu salad, this time featuring clementines. Yum.

Now, I think I’ll go attack that stack of books on my bedside table. Good night:)

  17. Aw how cute! Here’s a funny story for you: Last year I couldn’t go home for Christmas, so I sent 2 packages to my mom’s house (one for my parents and one for my sister). I was so surprised to hear from my mom about a week before Christmas about how much she loved the George Foreman I sent her, and how they opened it early and had been using it . . . because that was the gift I had gotten for my sister who hadn’t yet arrived! They ended up washing it and wrapping it back up for her LOL.

  18. Awwww – I LOVE the shirt! That was so sweet he wanted to surprise you with it. Well, he will just have to think of another surprise.

I LOVE the Eat Clean Cookbooks ~ I have them all – although I had to buy versus get them free to review – jealous :) I need to figure out how to get cookbooks sent to me or maybe not….it might just feed my addiction :) LOL.
