And the Snacking Continues
The title pretty much says it all. Somehow, I managed to have yet another day of grazing today. My meal schedule was totally thrown off largely due to sleeping in this morning, and ever since, my body has been completely confused as to what time of day it is.
Unfortunately, such a variable eating schedule is typical for me when I am on vacation; unforeseen adventures and obstacles inevitably make mealtimes all but an afterthought.
Do you maintain your normal eating schedule when on vacation? Any tips for someone who struggles with such things (like me)?
Onto today’s random collection of eats:
My first meal was closer to lunchtime rather than breakfast, so I gave into my wicked hummus craving.
After touring an apartment or two, I was hangry. I dove into my snack stash and pulled out an 18 Rabbits bar. I am really digging the coconut flavor of these bars!
For dinner, Seth and I headed out to another old favorite of Durham, The Blue Corn Cafe. You may recall past visits to this restaurant…and that I almost always order the same thing: black bean tortas. Ah-may-zing.
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend, and keep an eye out for a guest post from Papa Broc!

When I am on vacation, I try to eat as normally as possible, as in the same times and foods that I normally eat. My body thrives on a schedule, so that works for me.
It’s really hard for me to maintain my usual eating schedule when I’m not at home. No kitchen and groceries = stuck eating what’s available, at weird times. Plus, vacations = sleeping in, which I agree, totally throws me off. I think it’s situations like this where grazing is acceptable. At least you are snacking on healthy goodies!
Black bean tortas!
Mouthwatering.
Can’t wait to see the guest post!
It sounds like you and Seth are having a really great time! when i’m on vacation, i’m usually busy doing things so my eating schedule has to be pretty flexible. sometimes it gives me anxiety but it’s worth it to have fun.
I always try to maintain my normal eating schedule. Not the same products as at home, of course. But especially my breakfast: I just NEED cereal and fruit in the morning, and I prefer a little soymilk/yoghurt as well. Last year I was in a hotel in Paris and breakfast consisted of sweet white bread with sweet jam and chocobutter.. Bah! Such a sweet breakfast leaves me with a sort of empty feeling stomach and it makes me kind of ill. So I always try to get at least a good breakfast by buying those stuff in a local supermarket and eat it in my room or take it in a package to-go. Lunch and dinner are often in all sorts to find, so that’s not really a problem on vacation.

Love the presentation of your first meal photo, dinner looks great as well. Hope apartment hunting is going ok!
WHOA! I had not seen those tortas before. And they look amazing.
Thanks for the bar review, too; I’ve seen those and been curious. Happy wkd girl!
when i’m on vacation, i try to eat close to normal, but i also enjoy special treats like ice cream and other foods that are local to the area.
