B.P.S.
The title of today’s post is not a reference to financial change or the Board of Pharmacy Specialties. (Yeah, I totally Googled “BPS” prior to composing this post). On the contrary, BPS is the latest addition to the Broccoli Hut dictionary: Bottomless Pit Syndrome.
All week long, I have been suffering from insatiable appetite, particularly in the morning—as soon as I arrive home from my workout, I’ve been making a bee-line to the kitchen to satisfy my hunger. Indeed, it seems that my body is screaming “FEED ME,” and I am having trouble keeping up. That is, I have a serious case of Bottomless Pit Syndrome.
I am attributing my BPS to my workouts because this sudden amplification in appetite perfectly coincides with this week’s more intense workout schedule; I’ve been running longer distances and testing out a new strength training routine. Accordingly, I think I will experiment with slightly larger breakfasts in the upcoming week. Perhaps then my inner hunger monster will pipe down.
Do you ever have those days when you feel like a “bottomless pit?”
My last sorority formal (ever!) is to take place tonight, so I am posting a bit earlier today. Take a look at what’s kept me going so far:
In case you can’t tell, I am on a may-juh cottage cheese kick lately. I plopped a generous serving into a bowl this morning and topped it with some strawberries, Autumn Wheat, and vanilla almond butter. Not only was it tasty, but I’m pretty satisfied with how well this meal matches the bowl:)
For lunch, I got a little creative with a package of tempeh that’s been hanging out in my fridge for a while. I made tempeh salad with grapes, celery, vegan mayonnaise, and lots of dill weed. A more precise recipe to be posted in the future!
Before I go, I thought I would show you a peek at the latest samples that arrived on my doorstep:
Flat-Out Crisps! They read my mind—it was just yesterday that I attempted to make my own crisps with a sun-dried tomato Flat-Out. I am psyched to try out all these flavors.
Alright, I should scurry off to class now. Have a good weekend!

Hahah I read the title of this post and was like… wait, that’s my blog acronym.
I definitely have days I just don’t want to stop eating. I guess being active calls for that, though
I have tried those flat out crisps, they are pretty good a little salty but good ( i had the cheese flavor)
i was going to say maybe your workouts are causing you to be hungier… how much more cardio are you doing cause that usually is the reason for extra hunger
Recently i cut back on cardio for a few weeks and I notice the change in my appetite (def not as hungry!)
I have days where I feel like a bottomless pit. It does usually go along with a more intense workout, but is often the day after. I guess it’s proof the metabolism is going strong.
Have fun at the formal!
i’m totes suffering from BPS syndrome right now. the solution? step. away. from. the. kitchen.
hahaha i tell myself to do that like every 5 seconds
Oohh fun samples!
I like cottage cheese so much sometimes, and other times I can’t stand it. I go through phases. Meh.
I definitely go through phases similar of bottomless pit… esp. the day after I do a long run- CRAZY-
Happy weekend girlie!
I seriously think you have some of the most picture perfect ears……….ever.
And i am ALWAYS a bottomless pit. It can be frustrating!! Sometimes I just need to drink more fluids too!
have fun tonight!
This week I had bps too, I guess from all the studying and work lately
ooh, i want the tempeh salad recipe! i have a pack in my fridge waiting to be used, too.
i get BPS from time to time, too! i don’t quite understand it but when it happens i go with the flow =D
yes, I’ve had BPS before too, maybe every month? I think it also has to do with hormones! But more workout definitely will make your body to crave for more food!
btw, do you run everyday? for how long?
Just as I opened Reader this afternoon, I was thinking about how hungry I am these days… I think this weight training has revved up my appetite big time. I swear I have hollow legs these days.
I have BPS syndrome right now too! I’m chalking mine up to my more intense workouts too. I’m just always hungry!
Have fun tonight
I hate BPS! I feel like I eat everything that’s available in the house and everything that I’m craving and I’m still hungry…so what do I eat? Usually being able to eat all you want is nice, but sometimes you just don’t want to have to pick out yet another thing to eat! My BPS definitely gets worse when I’m doing more weight training.
Everytime that I increase my jogging(vs. walking) treadmill-time, I find myself in the depths of…BPS….it sounds so “official” when abrieviated, no?
The only think I know about BPS is that you’ve gotta feeeeeeeeeed that baby! I tend to find that bigger dinners put me on track for the following day, but I’m sure bigger brekkie is wise, too.
Woot! So glad you like the stationary
And the crisps as well!
I totally understand BPS and feel it right now since I’m training for a 10K. I agree with Gena – we gotta feed for a cure. Haha!
I often suffer from BPS! I kind of love it though because it means A. I got in an awesome workout and B. My metabolism is revving because of it. I’ll take a ravenous appetite over a minimal one any day
