Back in Town

Hello all! As of last night, I am officially back in Durham for one last semester. Due to my traveling schedule yesterday, I am just now getting a chance to post my weekend’s eats—I have much to show you. Without ado, let’s dive into some culinary adventures, shall we?

Friday

Wheat germ and chocolate in the same mouthful. Glorious.

Saturday

I don’t think I will ever tire of Kashi GoLean—my obsession with this cereal dates back to high school.

With a bag of broccoli slaw hangin’ out in the fridge and no tofu in the house, I settled on a gingery Quorn stir-fry for lunch. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but it was pretty bangin’.

For dinner, I decided to try out a product I received from Wildwood: Pasta Slim. These noodles appear to be very similar to Tofu Shirataki noodles, the product so wildly raved about by Hungry Girl. To be honest, I was never a fan of Tofu Shirataki noodles, so I didn’t have much hope for this product. It turns out that my suspicions were justified—Pasta Slim has that same slimy texture that Tofu Shirataki noodles have, perhaps with a slightly less fishy odor. No thanks. At least my easy sauce concoction was tasty.

That night, my family all went to Yogurt Mountain for an evening treat. Imagine a self-serve TCBY—you fill your own cup, add as many toppings as you like, and pay by the weight. Mine turned out to be delicious; there are so many possible combinations that I am sure I will return to Yogurt Mountain several times in the future. The fam headed over to a outdoors supply store to enjoy our fro-yo…and we found some awesome headgear:)

Apparently the fro-yo didn’t fill me up enough to not have my evening smoothie.

Sunday

With my bags all packed and my heart filled with anticipation, I settled down to one last bowl of oat bran at home. ‘Twas delightful.

I packed both my lunch and dinner for my long travel day.

Once I landed, I was greeted by Seth and big, beautiful bouquet of flowers. As predicted by my list, this kind gesture made me one happy lady.

Monday

Before heading out to a day of sorority recruitment activities, I gobbled down a quick breakfast of whatever I could find in the fridge.

Amidst our sisterly bonding and endless crafting, I did get a chance to enjoy a Greek salad and fruit.

Yikes! Monster post. Congratulations if you’re still reading! I hope to be back soon. Ciao, lovelies.

  13. Oh, nice to see that they have this kind of ice cream concept here in the US, wish there was one in NC….
In Brazil there are lots of Ice Cream places like that, you choose your flavors, put as much as you want (they have different containers and waffle bowls too), add your favorite toppings and pay by weight – I love ice cream so I have fun at these places!
I love the first smoothie you posted, you make it look so pretty and tempting!
Oh, and did you like the hummus maximus? Tthat’s the one I have tried!
    Ana

  14. I am bummed you didn’t like the “pasta slim”. I happen to like somewhat oddly textured noodles though so maybe I’ll still give it a try. How special to receive flowers when you got back, what a nice guy!

  15. Welcome back! So exciting to be on your last semester… enjoy it :-)

I wasn’t a fan of tofu shirataki at first, but they’ve grown on me. Great for making brothy soups, like fake ramen!
