Back to the B-Hut

Happy Friday, everyone! I have at last returned to the Broccoli Hut HQ, here in Durham. Despite some narsty weather around the southeast today, Seth and I managed to arrive home safely this afternoon. As indicated by my posts over the past week, I had a blast this spring break—a trip to remember, for certain. Nonetheless, I am glad to be back. Here’s just a sampling of things that delight me about  being home:

  • sleeping in my own bed
  • using a shower that does not require a PhD to operate
  • having access to vegetarian sources of protein (read: tofu and chickpeas!)
  • being able to concoct multiple blended delights throughout the day
  • getting back into the groove:)

What things do you miss most about home when you travel?

Anyway, here is how I managed to fuel myself today:

We woke up bright and early to catch a ride to the airport. Before leaving, I made an attempt to use up some of the groceries we had purchased earlier in the week. I ended up with a dang tasty breakfast wrap.

By the time we got a chance to stop for lunch, my appetite was raging. We opted to grab a couple of subs from Quiznos, where I ordered a friggin awesome veggie sandwich, sans cheese/dressing. Ever since I started dating Seth, I’ve regain respect for a good sandwich; I’ve rekindled my passion for the likes of Subway and Quiznos. Then again, it could just be because I love massive amounts of bread:)

Once home, I headed to the gym. I must say, it’s quite a different experience to run amidst the 5 o’clock crowd rather than my usual early birds. Anyway, I re-fueled afterward with a simple protein shake.

Whew, now I am off to organize my life. Have a fab weekend, all!

I love travelling, but last time I went on a trip, I was away for 3 weeks and all I wanted when I came home was oatmeal with almond butter and blueberries. So funny the things we miss.
