Beautifying the Blog
Recently, I took a moment to browse through the B-Hut archives, and I noticed a common characteristic among almost all my photographs—they all have incredibly boring backgrounds. Accordingly, I embarked on a mission to find decorative backdrops for my future food presentations for the blog; off to HomeGoods I went.
The Raleigh location was tragically bereft of placemats and dishtowels, so the mission was extended into my trip home. As you can see my Birmingham treks to HomeGoods were far more successful:
How much do care about food presentation? What are your favorite ways to make food look more appealing?
Aside from making attempts to beautify the blog, I managed to eat a few things too.
After a failed attempt to make protein waffles, I caved and just toasted up a pair of frozen ones.
For lunch, I feasted on Avocado Egg-less Salad.
Tonight’s dinner featured an Ellie recipe, Roasted Nutmeg Cauliflower.
I shared the cauliflower with my parents, and they agreed that this recipe was a winner. But then again, when don’t roasted veggies taste good??
The fro-yo outing never happened last night, so this time I am off to have dessert for real. Have a fantastic holiday weekend!

You know I love cooky backdrops! Floor pictures, anyone?
I really like your new placemats and dish towels! The watermelon one is awesome. And the wood background in your photos is always pretty. If I’m not using a cool fabric I tend to like wood or a solid color that will make the plate itself pop.
Your frittata looks amazing! Have a fabulous weekend, Caroline!
love the new backgrounds!
and those cherries– ah, get me so exciited for summerrr
I need to start making my pictures a little more exciting! placemats and tablecloths are a great idea!! And we were actually at homegoods tonight- we new piece of furniture to help Frank jump up on the bed
Very important. mmm roasted cauliflower.
Cauliflower. nuff said.
Mmm, all your daily eats look amazing and oh so nutritious. I mean what I say when I believe we’d get along fabulously well
I’d love the recipe for your updated avocado eggless salad and that fritatta! I’m not digging mayo these days….
