Bun in the Oven
For the past 8 weeks, I’ve been itching to tell you—our family is about to get a little bigger. No, don’t worry—it’s not me who is pregnant. My sister is having a baby! (Sorry, Mom; I didn’t mean to scare you).
Ever since I heard the joyful news, I’ve been researching homemade baby food recipes, and I’ve had my eye on this little gem from Williams-Sonoma:![]()
Truth be told, I wanted one even before I knew my sister was pregnant. I mean, it’s a “A steamer, blender, warmer and defroster in one compact appliance.” How awesome is that?! Plus, I developed a taste for baby food when I had my jaw surgery back in high school. Contrary to what you might think, pureed squash is quite delicious, my friends.
Once the baby reaches the age for complementary foods, you can be sure that Auntie Caroline will be delivering many fruit and vegetable delights:)
For you mothers out there, did you prepare your children’s food when they were infants? Was it difficult to manage?
For my fellow childless readers, what kitchen gadget do you have your eye on right now? Aside from the above baby food maker, I’ve been yearning for a large-size food processor. My 2-cup processor just isn’t cuttin’ it anymore. (Pun totally intended).
Let’s take a look at my eats for the day. Oddly enough, much of it was pureed…
This morning’s breakfast was Tofu-Banana French Toast, topped with delightfully sweet strawberries—these are definitely the best I’ve had thus far this season!
Once home from a long day of errands, I prepared a batch of Smoky BBQ Hummus and slathered it over a multigrain wrap.
For dinner, I prepared an Ellie recipe, Devilish Eggs.
My tweak:
-I used Lemonaise Light instead of regular mayonnaise.
Although I was never a huge fan of deviled eggs, this recipe is nothing short of amazing. The filling was silky smooth and presented the perfect balance of sweetness and heat. I can’t wait to make this dish again for a crowd—I guarantee that it would be a hit! I think the success of this dish also warrants the purchase of a cute egg plate, yes?
The recipe is available online: Devilish Eggs.
I am off to relax with Seth and Marge. Be back soon with a video post perhaps…
