Celebrating at Six Plates

As of 4 PM this afternoon, I was practically skipping across campus: my presentation was done, and I had a food blogger meet-up to look forward to this evening. I was so excited to finally get the opportunity to meet some Raleigh-Durham food bloggers (e.g., Meg, April, Jessica), plus I got a chance to check out Six Plates!

The evening’s conversation was quintessentially foodie-tastic; I think we talked about everything from pumpkin butter, to writing cookbooks, to green monster smoothies. Thanks so much to Sarah and Allie for putting this memorable event together! For full details on Six Plates (and the eats, of course!), check out the pictures later in this post.

Today also marked EatingJourney and Silly Tater Tot’s Vegan for a Day challenge. Although I attempted to make all my eats vegan, I was only successful for two out of the three meals…can I have a do-over? Anyway, check out the goods:

Wednesday

In retrospect, I should have played up the tropical theme with this smoothie by adding some coconut. Oh well…it’s not like I won’t be having another smoothie anytime soon.

Thursday

Oats in a Jar. Again. This is the third jar I’ve polished off in the past week, and my peanut butter jar is looking pretty skimpy too. I need to load up over Thanksgiving:) PS This is the raw almond butter I raved about in my latest foodie obsessions video.

For lunch, I packed my meal again in anticipation of my longer afternoon class. This time, I kept it vegan with a peanut butter and pumpkin butter (double PB?) sandwich, plus a few other odds and ends for crunch.

Now, onto the main event: Six Plates. To start off, we all wanted to take some pictures of the ambiance. Yes, we all had cameras in hand just moments after arriving:)

Sarah selected a lovely white wine for the table. It was just the right amount of sweet; somehow I was able to limit myself to one glass.

There were also some nibbles to share among the table; my favorite was the balsamic-doused flatbread. (I apologize for the flash-ridden pictures—we all agreed that the lighting was terrible!)

For dinner, I ordered the Mediterranean salad, which arrived with a delicious rice vinaigrette and pappadum on the side. Allie and I were both pretty excited to see pom seeds make an appearance on the plate as well:)

Not only was I lucky enough to enjoy these ladies’ company for the evening, but I also came home with a few goodies:

Although it was tempting to dig into the chocolate bar or Allie’s homemade cookies right away, I had a “second dinner” made up of TJ’s Carrot Ginger Soup, Ak Maks, and roasted red pepper hummus.

Whew! Monster post! Alright, I am off to…do absolutely nothing. And enjoy it. Good night!
