Cheese-atarian

I once heard a classmate of mine describe herself as a “cheese-atarian”—technically speaking, she would be classified as a vegetarian, but she explained to me that she finds herself eating large amounts of cheese and very few vegetables. Hence the more appropriate “cheese-atarian” title.

I never really considered myself at risk of becoming a cheese-atarian—I just like veggies too much. (Am I the only one who can polish off an entire bag of carrots within the span of an afternoon?). That being said, I’ve noticed that more and more of my protein is coming from protein these days. Observe the past week alone:

Hm. Perhaps I’m not so far from the cheese-atarian lifestyle after all.

Being a cheese-head is not necessarily a bad thing—after all, it’s a great source of calcium (gotta protect those bones!) and protein (which may help with weight loss!).

In my humble opinion, cheese is a great addition to your diet if you like the taste—just keep portions small or switch to reduced-fat varieties, as they can be high in saturated fat.

Fill in the blank: I consider myself a ______-atarian.

I consider myself tofu-atarian. See evidence below!

With a pantry full of canned pumpkin, it was inevitable that another batch of pumpkin oats would happen.

For lunch, I made a grilled cheese with Swiss, apple, & Dijon. Not-so-fun fact: Dijon mustard has significantly more sodium than regular. Bummer.

Ever since my plane ride over the weekend, I am on another tomato juice kick. I saw it at the grocery store yesterday, and I had a coupon…the rest is history.

I had planned on making another batch of Maple Mustard Tofu for dinner tonight, only to discover that my fridge of tragically bereft of tofu. Gasp! Not to worry, I had an emergency box of the shelf-stable (silken) kind in my pantry. Whew.

I am off to work on a project. Good night, lovelies.

  1. Does a greek-yogurtarian work? Haha! Just kidding ;)

  2. You can cook silken tofu? Wow, you are amazing. Mine just turns to mush.

Truth be told, mine was a tad on the mushy side. However, it was “extra-firm” silken tofu, so that might have helped it retain its shape a bit better.

  3. One of my friends calls herself a cheese-atarian too! It cracks me up.
I would say I’m definitely a hummus-atarian. And, quite possibly a tomato-atarian as well. I just can’t seem to get enough of either!
Your meals look delicious, per usual. (:

  5. I’ve also been eating a lot of cheese recently… yesterday, for example, I had it for every meal!

  6. true statement: every time I open a bag of baby carrots I eat the entire thing in one sitting. I sometimes forget this isn’t the norm. My veg consumption is a bit ridiculous :)
