Coupon Diva
After dropping off Seth at the airport this morning, my mood was understandably melancholy. In order to lift my spirits, I decided to engage in one of my favorite activities—grocery shopping of course. Aside from the usual enjoyment I derive from a good flounce through Publix, this visit was particularly satisfying due to the bargains I found.
In recent weeks, I’ve found a new favorite Sunday pastime—coupon clipping. Thanks to my tedious scissor-work, I arrived at the store today with a fistful of money-saving potential. My smart shopping saved me five bucks—shweet. Highlights include $1 off Blue Diamond almonds and $1 off whole grain Cream of Wheat. Yeah, I know—I’m a coupon diva.
Do you ever take advantage of coupons? Why or why not?
I have a very full Google Reader to catch up on, so let’s get onto the grub already.
I faced another banana-less fruit bowl this morning, so I made another apple-laden bowl of oat bran. Add a scoop of Naturally More peanut butter and a few dried cranberries and you’ve got a bowl full of joy.
For lunch, I had a may-juh craving for my favorite BBQ-avocado combo, so I incorporated the dynamic duo into a salad. As Granddaddy would say, it “hit the spot!”
I found some frozen okra lurking in the fridge a few days ago, so I put it to good use this evening by making a simple vegan gumbo with black beans.
Alright, off to catch up on my fellow foodies’ blogs! Good night.

I love clipping coupons. We get the circulars every Wednesday and I look forward to them (I’m such a dork
). Publix is the best. Your gumbo looks amazing. Google reader can be evil…can’t it?
i LOVE coupons. couponmom.com and coupons.com are the best! my boyfriend makes fun of me endlessly, but i keep a big envelope stuffed full of them in my glove compartment
. i was so excited to see an almond milk coupon posted last week…those $.60 cents off totally made my day,
Ohhh my gosh Caroline- i have literally forgotten about my love of oatban until i read this post!!!! How could i dooo that?! haha i haven’t even had it here in Boston, what a crime!! I mean, my roommate and I did buy a 200+ serving of old-fashioned oats at costco 2 months ago, so i have an excuse
So glad u had fun with Seth u guys are toooo cute!!
Morning, sweets! So sorry that Seth departed and that you’re blue. I’m actually going through a spell of missing Chloe — she’s away on her honeymoon and I’m not accustomed to daily phone convos!
Your dinner looks scrumptious, and you know I’m all over the avocado at lunch. Interestingly, it’s a veggie I’ve never paired with BBQ flavors — perhaps this is inspiration to try that!
Sorry, I meant not accustomed to NO daily phone convos
I should clip coupons, but I don’t even get the paper! Maybe when I move, I’ll have to start doing that.
Ha, I am ALWAYS that girl who has to call the manager over to the checkout lane because the cashier doesn’t know how to enter in my 10 different coupons. I’m totally okay with that.
I clip coupons all the time and bring a million to the store, but then I always do cost comparisons between the brands and the store brand is always cheaper than the other brand even WITH the coupon! So I never end up using any… I love Publix, but I can’t shop there. Its too expensive. :[
My mum uses coupons very often actually but only on the foods her and my brothers eat. can never find any coupons for healthy foods and food that i eat, that are available inthe shops we shop in! so annoying!!
glad you had a fabby time with Seth and you aren’t feeling too down xx
I love okra! the jumbo looks delish, and I love coupons, I always cut them but rarely end up using them.
awww i’m so sad for you that seth is gone! but you had such an awesome time and he’ll be back soon!
haha i’m SUCH a coupon whore.
