CoW

For the uninitiated in Caroline-speak, CoW refers to one of the most glorious hot cereals known to Man, Cream of Wheat. It’s no secret that CoW is a favorite here at the Broccoli Hut. Indeed, some of you may recall that I desperately sought the help of my readers in locating whole grain Cream of Wheat last summer when my local grocers stopped carrying it. My love of Cream of Wheat traces back to my childhood when Mumsy would make me a piping hot bowl of the delicious mush every morning before school. Sigh.

Anyway, I recently received a notice from the CoW folks that they were offering free samples. Obviously, I seized the opportunity for some gratuitous good stuff and sent in my information for a sample. Lo and behold, it arrived today:

I’ve never tried the “Healthy Grain” line of products before, so some breakfast excitement awaits me in the future. What, you mean breakfast doesn’t excite you?

What products have you tried for the first time recently?

Alright, I have a test to study for, so let’s get to the grub already.

For some reason unknown to me, I have been neglecting my jar of coconut butter for many moons. Remember my enthusiasm for this stuff last summer? I put it to good use this morning as a topper for pumpkin-banana oat bran.

Amidst my study session, I took a quick pita break. Love this combination!

Once dinnertime rolled around, I made a ginormous batch of tortilla soup, topped with a perfectly ripe avocado.

With that, I bid you adieu. Be back tomorrow—it’s almost Friday!

  20. Errr…. Eliie, nope, unfortunately Ready Brek isn’t COW- its a mixture of oats and oat flour… what you would be looking for is semolina, that staple of the school cafeteria ;) Hope your test went well Caroline, not long now, then you can put your feet up as a graduate!
