Creeper Caroline
I love to people-watch. Call me a creeper, but there are few things (namely cooking and writing) that I enjoy more than observing people and analyzing their behavior. It is for this reason that airports, libraries, and restaurants hold endless appeal for me—in public spaces such as these, I can observe my fellow human beings in blissful anonymity. I am sure part of this fascination with others’ lives is innate—we people love to learn via others’ behavior—but I think part of this fascination is particular to me. It should come as no surprise that one of my majors is psychology:)
The reason I mention this topic today is due to some out-of-the-ordinary people watching episodes. This morning, for example, I saw a guy smoking outside of the library who resembled “Shades Patterson,” dressed in all black and super dark shades.
His mysterious demeanor had me imagining his life and motivations all throughout my next class.
Not even five minutes later, I found myself next to an unkempt male undergraduate with earphones glued to his head.
Despite the fact that he was standing several feet away from me, I could hear every word of “Thriller” blasting through his headphones. I noticed that he was designing some sort of avatar on the computer adjacent mine. I got to thinking how different his life must be from mine—I get my panties in a wad if I don’t shower at least once a day, and “avatar” is barely a part of my vocabulary.
Do you like to people watch?
All creepiness aside, I did manage to eat some tasty meals today too.
Mini review time! I think I might have found a new favorite protein powder, BioChem. I spotted this little gem while I was waiting in line at Whole Foods yesterday: “Ooh! A protein powder I haven’t tried?? I must have it!” Yes, I am a marketer’s dream. Interesting fact: this protein powder features the usual vegan protein components (hemp, pea, etc.) but also cranberry protein. Who knew such a thing existed?
Anyway, it makes for a luscious smoothie, as it did this morning.
This afternoon, my computer decided to have a poop attack and not turn on or re-start properly. After hyperventilating for about twenty minutes, I settled down to make a batch of Lemon Ginger Hummus. (Obviously, my computer has since recovered…for now).
I came home from a long day of classes and meetings in a stressed state. The solution? Comfort food, tempeh chili to be precise. I enjoyed them with a handful of what I like to call “fake Kashis” (aka Whole Foods’ house brand of crackers).
I am now off to relax. Pray that my computer behaves itself tonight. Ciao for now.

I LOVE to people watch. Parrish on the other hand, does not love it when I people watch.
Cranberry protein?? I didn’t even know cranberries had protein lol
People-watching sounds creepier when it’s typed out. But I think in real life, it’s kinda cool
I love being on busses for the pure joy of people watching. I like to think about what other people are thinking and what their lives are like. I love imagining what it would be like to be friends with some of the people and most of the time I find it strange knowing that I will never have the chance to actually talk to some of these people. You are not a creeper, just normal!
People watching is my favorite….probably why I love Wilson Gym so much haha.
I almost picked up that vegan protein the other day at WFs!
I will have to pick up those crackers when I go to WF. The stats look awesome and they are of good size.
I don’t mind spending extra time at places to creepily people watch haha
HAHA! I love people watching as well. In fact, hours could go by and I would have done nothing but people watch. That’s why I love sitting outside on warm and sunny days and just stare at people going by. I like how you imagine little stories about these people and how different their lives are in comparison to yours. Too funny! That tempeh chili looks so good and comforting. I usually just marinate my tempeh and eat it as is, but eating it in a soup/chili sounds like a great idea. I hope your computer feels better. Love that line ‘my computer decided to have a poop attack’ – cracked me up!
hahah i love this opening. i live to people watch! so fun! i don’t even mind layovers.
to answer your Q about how to first try savory CC~ you should totally mix it with garbanzos and avocado and some seasonings (i like ranch seasoning). and i LOVE the story of “broccoli hut”!! oh my gosh, i had no idea it was so awesome until you told me! that was the best story i received.
yes, sometimes I enjoy watching people and imagine their lives. It’s really interesting to realize that we all live in the same world but because of X reason, we have such different lives!
I love to people watch too! My dad people watches as well (in a non creeper way). The two of us could sit for hours on a park bench or walk around the city, not saying a word to each other, and just people watch.
I love people watching, too! On the subway, I try to figure out what people’s lives are like. And I always look to see if they’re wearing wedding bands. Weird, I know.
(I also love that you said “panties in a wad!”)
I love people-watching… I love wondering where they are going and what they are thinking. And what they ate for breakfast, lol.
What’s the verdict on the new protein powder?
Haha, I do people-watching, too….and in my head, I create fantasy stories for them. Sort of different from yours…I’m more like a dreamer.
I’m not a people watcher. And whenever I wanna try it out, like last time I was stuck at the airport, I always forget. I guess I’m not that observant :/ Thriller guy sounds pretty interesting though!
I love people watching, its so much fun! How is the protein powder? I have been trying to find a decent vegan one for quite awhile to no avail.
I work downtown. It’s hard NOT to people watch. There are some crazies out there!
