Cursed by Dirty Santa
This evening I had the pleasure of attending a Christmas party with my former co-workers. As you might expect from a group of gift shop employees, this gathering had a gift component in that we all exchanged ornaments—“dirty Santa” style. I picked out a glittery snowflake as my contribution:
As luck would have it, I opened up five different ornaments, as other party guests kept “stealing” my gift. Apparently I am cursed by Dirty Santa. I ended up with a whimsical elf:
While we’re on the subject of ornaments, I’ll show you a few more of my favorites (I showed a small sampling last year too). Being the sap that I am, I thoroughly enjoy gazing at our ornament collection every year, as each one represents a special memory:
Tell me about some of your favorite ornaments on your tree this year.
Before all that gift-exchanging, I ate my little heart out.
This morning brought another freezing run, with temperatures in the teens. Yeah, I know—I’m so hard-core. Anyway, when I returned I made a big pumpkin parfait.
After running a few errands with Mumsy, I re-fueled with a wrap featuring Lemon Ginger Hummus. Sooo good.
For dinner, I warmed up with a pita pizza. BBQ tofu + pineapple might just be my all time favorite pizza topping combination.
Alright, I am off to watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Good night!

Hey Caroline– just out of curiosity, why did you change the format of your blog so that we have to click into your blog to read the post (as opposed to being able to see it in reader)? Sorry if you addressed this elsewhere, maybe I missed it. I’m not trying to complain, just curious because I love reading about your life, but lately, when I’m crunched for time, find myself skipping over your posts since I can’t access them in google reader
.
CUTE ornaments!!
I have too many favorites on my tree to name just one, haha.
Funny you should bring up ornaments. (Yours are really cute by the way!) Cat and I are working on making all of our own ornaments for the tree. There will be a post coming up about it soon. It’s certainly a different approach!
Also – the same thing is happening to me that is happening to Nina.
How exactly do you make your BBQ tofu?
And are you free for lunch Thursday?
Awww – all the ornaments look really really cute!
Delicious eats, as always.
I wonder why that pumpkin parfait was the one that caught my caught my eye, though…
Haha
Haha- dirty santa.
I love those ornaments though. Especially your snowflake!
I keep telling my parents to get new xmas ornaments…. I suppose sentimental ornaments reign over modern Crate and Barrel ones
Eek, I had a chilly run today too– in the rain.
Same thing is happening to me in Reader!
i llove all your ornamentss! and as always your beautiful food!
growing up, I would get a different ornament every year so my entire childhood is documented on our Christmas tree! you can totally tell ALL of the phases I went through–from the power rangers (I was obsessed with the pink ranger!) to my first time playing softball to my crazy *nsync fan days–it’s really cool (although sometimes slightly embarrassing
) each of those are my favorites and I love the fact that my parents will always have those on our family christmas tree.
BBQ tofu sounds SO good!!! I love experimenting with different marinades for tofu…it taste like what I put on it LOL…bbq is one I have to try out soon!!!
although I do not celebrate christmas, I love that ELF is on tv!!! such a cute movie!
Oooh! The Freddie-look-alike ornament is so cute.
And I like the camel one!
Favourite ornaments… I still have exams left (last on the 21st!) so I haven’t been home yet to see the Christmas tree and what’s on it this year, but my favourite ornaments are two that were given to me and my brother. Mine is a little crystal angel with real gold wings and a golden halo with golden hems on her dress, and my brother’s is a crystal toy rocking horse, also with real gold embellishments… Every year, when we both get home, we get to put them on ourselves (usually my mom gets to do all the decorating…).
I love sentimental ornaments so I hardly think you’re a “sap” for gazing at your own collection of them!
On another note, your meals look just as delicious~ Cottage cheese and pumpkin… I wouldn’t have thought of putting those two together, somehow! Pumpkin oats, pumpkin yogurt… and now pumpkin cottage cheese! And how you set your plates and cutlery for dinner made me chuckle. XD Lovely salad in a bowl, yummy looking pita pizza, a fork, and… a super sharp knife!
