Do-Over

For a change of pace this weekend, Seth and I spent some time in dear old Durham rather than further exploring Raleigh.

First, we walked around Duke’s campus, where I got a little nostalgic. Sure, it was just a few months ago that I graduated, but I found myself wishing for a “do-over.”

Then, we hit up a spot from our first date, just for kicks and a good glass of wine.

Oh, and in light of last Friday’s post, Seth performed a bit of a do-over himself today at Kroger—he replaced my beloved Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Larabar. Oh yes, this thoughtful gesture earned him approximately 1.5 million brownie points.

What’s one life experience you wish you could have over again?

Now here’s the menu that went along with all that reminiscing…

Saturday

What is it about Saturday morning that always has me craving eggs? I satisfied my appetite’s pleas with a scrambled egg whites in a wrap with veggies & cheese. An orange-berry smoothie washed it all down.

The afternoon meal was a B-Hut Grab ‘n Go favorite—hummus sandwich with fruit and veg action on the side.

For dinner, we hit up Chipotle. I was delighted to have a server with a generous hand. Translation=guacamole mountain!

Sunday

Seth and I had plans for breakfast out in Durham, but we soon discovered that everyone else in the Triangle area had the same idea. Hence, we hit up Kroger for some breakfast ingredients. 1 Pint blackberries + almond milk + bananas + oat bran = one glorious breakfast bowl.

I used up the last of that hard boiled egg tragedy for lunch today with a classic egg salad. Keep your fingers crossed that my next batch is more of a success…

The baked tortilla chips were beckoning from the pantry…so tonight became Taco (Salad) Night.

Alright, I’m out for a spontaneous fro-yo date. Ciao!

  1. Fun sightseeing!

Haha, love that the photo of Seth with the Larabar is the background on your laptop :)

    Enjoy the fro-yo!

  2. Bahahahahahha oh man you cracked me up just now. Love that Seth got you your Larabar back. Good move, Seth, good move.

I love those chips scattered on your salad and I think we are the queens of putting veggie burgers on greens :)

  3. I would totally make Pea Daddy replace my bar. He totally knows what foods are okay to touch (i.e. who cares), and which aren’t (i.e. almond butter, Tru Whip, Larabars).

    Seth, too, shall learn.

  4. I think those brownie points should be renamed peanut butter chocolate chip larabar points. Except that’s kind of a mouthful to say. Either way, good on him!

  5. west end – yay!

the brunch scene in durham can be slightly ridiculous – i agree! one strategy i have used is actually to make it lunch and go on the later end. places like watts and guglhupf are actually more manageable then than they are at 11 am. but sometimes it’s way hard to wait that long – esp if i ran long that AM!

perhaps we could get together (with our guys) for brunch this weekend? let me know!

  6. Good Seth!

And I love that mountain of guac!

  7. I still need to try Chipotle. I just discovered that there’s one near my house, so this needs to happen soon. ;)

  8. Oh my gosh that is my EXACT order when I go to chipotle!!! And I looove when they give me lots of guac ;)

  9. What a NICE boyfriend you’ve got there– there’s nothing like a man who’ll replace your larabar :)

  14. Oooh the coffee shop – I spend basically all of my time there now! It’s so nice in the day with the natural light pouring in :-)

I’ve lived here over a year and still haven’t been to the Durham West End Wine Bar – I need to check it out! (I have been to the one in CH).
