Doctor-Approved
Today was a busy day for both me and Margot, as we both had important appointments with our respective doctors.
Margot was the first under the microscope, and we headed to her first “puppy wellness exam” this morning. Despite an “exciting” car-ride over to the vet’s office (FYI: puppy barf is gross), we were greeted with warm smiles at Bowman Animal Hospital. The staff all fawned over Miss Margot as if she were a superstar…and she loved every second of it. She is such a diva. Anyway, Margot is one healthy, happy pup—she weighed in at 4.75 pounds. My baby is growing up so fast…
Then it was my turn. I headed to the orthopedist this afternoon for a check-up after my prescribed 8 weeks of rest. The appointment lasted all of 5 minutes—the doc simply moved my leg in all directions, pounded on my heel, and affirmed that there was no pain. After that, he gave me to go-ahead to return to my running routine! Yee-haw! Time to dust off the Garmin!
I would like to attribute our clean bills of health to the B-Hut family’s nutritious style of eating!
Have you noticed significantly better health since you started eating healthfully?
In comparison to my younger years, I hardly ever get colds, and my hair has never been healthier!

Onto the grub!
Before heading to the vet’s office this morning, I fueled up with a protein-packed breakfast burrito. Really I was just looking for a vehicle for fresh avocado.
For lunch, I made an old favorite, Spinach Hummus.
This evening’s dinner was a modified “steakhouse dinner” in that I made Lemon Pepper Tofu Steaks and Ellie’s Garlic Fries.
My tweaks:
-I subtracted one teaspoon of oil from the recipe, as the potatoes already seemed well-coated.
-I added lots more parsley than what was called for in the recipe…I dig those fresh herbs!
In my experience with oven fries, I am often faced with the dreaded soggy fry. I guess I was just too impatient in my prior endeavors—I let these babies cook up for the full suggested 35 minutes, and they came out perfectly crispy. I still found them a little greasy for my taste, so next time I might blot them a bit with a paper towel to avoid slippery fingers.
The recipe is available online: Garlic Fries
Now I am off to check out some new cookbooks—look for a review this weekend!
Good night.
