Face-to-Face with Fievel
This morning as I set out on my run, I noticed a small creature chillin’ by the mailbox. When I got closer to said creature, I encountered a face not unlike this:
Alright, alright—so he wasn’t sporting the hat, shirt, and pants—but the face was strikingly Fievel-esque. This mouse appeared to be hurt, perhaps with a broken leg, and I was tempted to help him out, but fears of rabies convinced me to continue with my morning routine; perhaps his condition would improve with time.
Unfortunately, as I obsessively checked the mailbox today for an acceptance letter (to no avail), I kept passing by Fievel Jr….and he appeared to be fading in the Alabama heat. As a formerly American Tail-obsessed child, I couldn’t help but worry about the little booger. By the time I returned from work this evening, he had disappeared—I can only hope that he either revived or died peacefully.
What are some of your favorite animated films from your childhood?
Aside from worrying about my neighborhood’s rodent population, I ate a few tasty meals too.
The creative juices were not flowing this morning, so cereal was on the menu for breakfast.
It’s been far too long since my last beet fix, hence my colorful lunch salad.
I had the evening shift at work today, so I packed my dinner. This one featured a variation on Clean Eating’s Curried Egg White Salad—I think I made enough tweaks to say I’ve made the recipe my own; I shall post it soon.
OK, my belly is telling me snack-time is necessary. Ciao!

i wish mice wore clothes for real. egg salad=love!
I just LOVE your lunch – so colourful and so tasty
I agree, your lunch looks really pretty
I should get some beets and have a salad like that, I adore beets
i don’t think mice carry rabies! but they do carry hantavirus (a cause of meningitis) and leptospirosis and probably other things, too. so – yeah
one of my goals this weekend is to make the curried egg white salad!
Aww, poor little guy! I used to watch An American Tail sometimes when I was young but always found it too sad. There are some parts which still make my cry…
Forgive me if you’ve mentioned it before, but what kind of work are you doing at the moment? It’s just that whenever you mention your job I always wonder what it is!
Thanks

My first crush (and Chloe’s too) was Robin Hood. Not the character from literature, but rather, Disney’s animated red fox.
Yeah. I just admitted that.
I LOVED American Tail as a kid. So cute. And sad. And funny. Just a great movie overall.
I used to watch Bambi over and over and over to the point of driving my siblings up a wall. I seriously could have watched it every night.
A mouse! Oh, so cute! I love rodents so much; I’ve wanted a rat forever. I remember over the winter break I was getting down a box full of bows and wrapping paper for Christmas presents… I got the shock of my life when a little mouse head popped out of the top!!
Poor Fievel Jr!! I’ll admit, I’ve never seen that movie. However my favorite animated movies are Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and Toy Story – I will watch those movies to this day.
Oo I was obsessed with Disney movies when I was little. Mostly the princess ones, but I liked Toy Story and Lion King too. Apparently when I was five I managed to watch Pocahontas five times in one day. I’m not sure I could even watch three different movies in one day now.
That had to be one of the best mouse movies ever. Yeah, that’s right, Stewart Little, I said it.
OMG! Fievel!!! I totally forgot about that movie!! I <3'd it! I think I wore out our VCR playing the Fievel tapes over and over as a kid.
MMmmm I could go for some red beets right about now!!!
Yum, love beetroot salad!!xx
mmm i’m eating curried tuna salad now
love me some curry powdskies!
Oh my goodness. I had forgotten all about Fievel until now. Definitely one of my favorites when I was little too. I also really liked 101 Dalmations and Lion King.
An American Tail was one of my FAVORITE movies as a kid
Aw, am I the only one who thinks mice are adorable?? I actually can’t say I know which Disney movie Fievel is from (shame) but my favorite movie as a kid was The Little Mermaid
I had a huge crush on Dimitri in “Anastasia”. I watched the movie over and over again just for him! ;-p
Bugs Bunny! Wheeeeee
