Feastive

fea·stive [fee-stiv] -adj. characteristic of celebratory activity related to holidays and special occasions, with a special emphasis on food and feasting.

The definition you see above is the latest addition to the Broccoli Hut dictionary, and it describes this past weekend quite precisely. Technically, it’s not a real word—but it’s my blog, and I can do what I want to…including creating new foodie vocabulary:)

Seth and I were in full-on feastive mode over the past few days, in honor of all things autumnal—hay rides, pumpkin-picking, goat-gazing, plus a few feasts in between.

Oh, and there was also a celebratory trip to Costco, just for kicks. After years of mooching off my sister’s membership, I finally got a membership of my own to share with Seth. Let the bulk bargains begin…

Now, onto the feasting part:

Saturday

After a relaxing run Saturday morning, I prepared a simple PB&J, er, AB & CAB (almond butter & cran-apple butter) breakfast.

With so much fall celebration, I didn’t get a chance to eat again until dinner at Mellow Mushroom. Accordingly the hummus appetizer was very necessary.

Dinner finally arrived, and I started to dig into my salad…only to realize that they had put BBQ chicken instead of BBQ tofu on my salad. What’s worse, they gave Seth a “White Pizza” instead of the “Hawaiian Pizza” that he ordered. Apparently, our waiter needs a hearing check.

It’s a good thing your crust is so dang delicious, Mellow Mushroom.

Sunday

I woke up in a savory kind of mood this morning when it came time to make breakfast. Hence, another egg white omelet creation, featuring broccoli & fresh ground pepper.

The afternoon included a visit to the hair-dresser for Seth, which is conveniently located next to Whole Foods. Lunch at the salad bar. Duh.

I took a short break from studying to make a simple Waldorf Salad for dinner.

Now I am off to study and pick out a few recipes for the week. Ciao!
