Fetch My Rubber Duckie

So the other night, I was complaining about the pain in my hip (who? me? complain?), and Seth, being the reasonable man that he is, suggested that I take a hot bath. I scoffed at the idea.

“Ick. I don’t do baths. I’ll stick to showers, thanks.”

A few days later, curiosity and boredom got the best of me—I hopped in the bathtub. About 30 seconds into it, I could tell I was going to be bored. I’m not particularly fond of pondering my navel, so I got to work washing my hair and shaving my legs. By the time I finished, my muscles were completely relaxed, and I was left with an overall feeling of content. Magic!

While I don’t think I’ll be luxuriating in bubble baths on a nightly basis, I will be indulging myself in some bathtub relaxation on occasion.

How about you? Are you a shower or a bath person? Perhaps both?

Now that we’ve delved into my hygiene habits, let’s back to the topic at hand—the food.

My Pumpkin Pie Muffin supply is quickly dwindling. Something about their autumnal spicy-sweetness is just so irresistible. I ate one this morning as an accompaniment to a strawberry-coconut smoothie.

After doing a few errands this afternoon, I returned home to make a batch of Coconut Black Beans with Mango. I guess I’m on yet another coconut kick these days.

Tonight’s dinner was Ellie recipe #6, Arugula, Caramelized Onion, and Goat Cheese Pizza.

My tweaks:

-Due to an unfortunate incident with the pepper grinder, this pizza had a little more ground pepper than I intended. It made for quite an intense but tasty flavor experience.

-The recipe calls for reduced-fat goat cheese, but I was unable to find it anywhere. Hence, I used regular goat cheese.

I don’t have much experience with goat cheese, but after making this recipe I think I’ll incorporate it into my cooking more often. Do you have any goat cheese recipes to share? Leave a link in the comments!

If you’d like to try this pizza for yourself, it’s available on FoodNetwork.com: Arugula, Caramelized Onion, & Goat Cheese Pizza

Good night, all!

  1. That pizza looks fab!

I’m not a bath person either—only time I’ve done it lately was as a “cold plunge” after a workout that I knew would kill me if I didn’t ice everything down.

Warm bath—ick…but I have hip problems/tightness, so it sounds like maybe I should try it!

  4. hey girl! just got your question :) i use whatevers on sale haha for sugar free jam. the polaner is good! and you get good bang for your buck! lately we’ve been buying the smuckers costco sized one because its the cheapest for a big honkin jar haha

  5. I’m definitely more of a shower girl…for some reason, sitting in the water i’m bathing in just doesn’t appeal to me. :)

i don’t use goat cheese much, so i’m looking forward to what other commenters suggest!

  6. I’m with you on being a shower person. Baths always sound like a good idea, and then after 10 minutes I’m all light headed and sweaty. I’d rather sit in a sauna!

  7. I used to take baths alllll the time as a child but they’ve been few and far between these days, unless their of the ice variety. Although I did take a hot one the other day when I was having a shizzy day.

  8. Goat cheese is growing on me! I really like this recipe for an appetizer:

Oh, and I go back and forth… showers and baths… but definitely like baths for sore muscles!

  9. First off, I’m loving your puddle of coconut butter atop your beans– reminds me of oatmeal.
Second, you should use goat cheese for salads, omelets, sandwiches and much more. I love goat cheese, by far my most fav and use it on everything!

  10. I second Heidi Swanson, check out her website (101cookbooks). I love her recipes, healthful, veg-bounty, tasty…. warning, you will want to make everything from that site!

  11. mm i LOVE goats cheese!! and i am def a shower person- like to hop in and out.. ihate being in water!

  12. I am usually a shower person…but give me a jetted tub and I’m all about a bath! Glad you’re enjoying the pumpkin muffins and the flatbread looks great! Whoops on the pepper- I’ve totally done that before. Goat cheese is awesome in pastas with veggies. It melts a little and is just perfect

  13. an ice bath helps recover after a long run but a hot bath with bathsalts is magical

  14. I love hot baths. I take them when I’m stressed or just really cold in the winter. I like to read a magazine while I soak. My favorite is to add peppermint oil and Epsom salts.

I’m feeling tempted by those muffins! I may just have to whip up a batch.

  15. I love arugula on pizza! I’m eager to give this one a try… maybe tonight!
My husband LOVES baths. I like them, but like you, I get bored. I usually take a bath when I’m really, really cold. It does warm the bones, but I’ll have to have a book or magazine with me.
Thanks for the pizza! I’m excited about this one!

  16. Okay – I loveeee laying the bathtub, but ONLY in the winter. I get so cold and a nice hot bath warms me up like nothing else. But let’s keep that between you me and the blogworld, ok? :)

  17. HELLO black beans! Those coconut black beans sound wonderful!

  18. those pizza toppings sound like an incredible combination!

    have a great weekend, lovely!

  19. That pizza looks divine! I love goat cheese!

I forget how much I like a nice relaxing soak in the tub. I don’t do it often because I’m a bit long for the size of my tub, but I do like one after an extremely hard day! Bubbles are a must!

  20. Ooh, that looks good.

What brand of tortilla did you use?
