Finis
As of 7:59 PM this evening, I am officially done with my Fall 2009 semester. Accordingly, my life will be blissfully free of homework and lectures for an entire month. Glorious! Now I finally have the time to do those things I’ve been meaning to do all semester: watch a movie or two, review some cookbooks (keep an eye out!), and attack my stack of books and magazines that have been accumulating all this time. What are the things you look forward to doing once you have some time off?
Amidst my periodic study sessions, I’ve managed to cobble together a few decent meals recently. Check ‘em out:
Monday
I’ve had this acorn squash lying around for a several days now, and I wasn’t about to let it go to waste before I leave for break. I roasted it as per usual and stuffed it with a warm version of my curried tofu salad.
Tuesday
After sleeping in this morning (9:15! gasp!), I had an awesome run at the gym and came home for a bowl full of banana-nut comfort.
For lunch today, I had the pleasure of meeting a fellow Dukie and blog reader at my beloved Refectory Cafe. I had a great time chatting with Caitlin, and I hope we’ll keep in touch:)
Just before heading out into the dreary rain and off to my exam, I made an admittedly random salad, featuring leftover acorn squash, chickpeas, and honey sesame cashews. Random, but good.
Now, I don’t quite know what to do with myself. Watch Home Alone? Read Clean Eating? Catch up on blogs? The possibilities are endless! Have a great evening, everyone.

I’m jealous of a) you being done with the semester b) free time and c) that awesome looking Monday night dinner.
Thanks so much for the shout-out, Caroline! We will most definitely be keeping in touch, and I look forward to seeing you again at graduation
Congratulations! I am hoping to get through my magazine stack in the next few weeks with some time off from work.
I love stuffed squash – I need to do that again soon.
The acorn stuffed with curried tofu is an awesome idea! I’ve been into stuffing veggies these days, so I’ll have to try that next
I hope you enjoy your month off! I can’t wait until finals are over for me too!
Congrats, lady! I bet that’s a good feeling!
I am most looking forward to spending time with my family. Mainly because I miss the dickens out of them, and because I know it will be the only time where I’m not working (at work, or on my manuscript for school for spring).
I’m jealous that you’re done with your semester as well! I still have the dreaded finals week up ahead =(. One thing I’d like to do over break is pick up a different hobby – maybe attempt to knit a scarf? Or learn to play Cribbage with my dad? The possibilities are endless when you have endless amounts of time without homework and class!
I would give ANYTHING to be done right now!! The next two days are going to be brutal! So much to catch up on when I get home. I’m ready for some good ol’ reading, baking, and blogging.
Oh and Ezekiel english muffins are AMAZING!!! I like them better than the bread but you get so many more slices in a loaf of bread!
congrats dear!
Time to rest, relax, and enjoy!!
im looking forward to spending time with my family. playing cranium, and drinking wine

I vote for Home Alone! That movie freaking rocks. Congrats on finishing up. I’m totally jealous of your break. Your stuffed squash is getting me excited for my dinner tonight. Josh and I are SO in love with those sesame covered cashews. Were totally going to run out of them this week. I think I will need to request a new package from his mama

Huzzah for the end of semester! It’s an amazing feeling–I remember it well. I remember one year taking my last final and going back to my dorm to lay on the couch and watch Christmas Vacation without worrying about some paper I ought to be writing. Glorious. Enjoy the feeling!
