Foodie Tats!
Take a look at this gallery of photos–they’re all foodie tattoos! I think my favorite of the bunch is the Goldfish–I mean, how can you not like “the snack that smiles back?” If you were to get a food tattoo, what would you choose? A small bunch of cherries appeals to me for both its discreetness and adorable-ness, but perhaps a tiny broccoli man would be more appropriate?
In other news, I had my first afternoon of shadowing today with the nutritionist. She works mostly with transplant patients, so I got the chance to learn about optimal pre- and post-operative nutrition for patients receiving organs as well as devices (such as VADs). Shadowing will definitely be a unique experience; I am learning about a whole new side of nutrition!
Aside from my dietetics education, I managed to fuel myself pretty well too:
Monday
Uh-oh. Blueberries N Cream might have some competition as Caroline’s favorite Spirutein flavor…

cherry-berry smoothie: cherries, strawberries, & Cherry Spirutein with soymilk & Acai Apple granola
Tuesday
After completing my longest run EVER, I came home this morning to prepare a tasty bowl of Cream of Wheat. I kicked up the coconut factor my cooking the Cream of Wheat in a combination of vanilla and coconut extracts. SO GOOD.

Peaches N Cream...of Wheat

Cream of Wheat cooked in almond milk with wheat germ, farmers' market peaches, & coconut butter

Return of the artichoke hummus (aka pizza hummus)! This hummus is always so satisfying, but now I have the rest of the can of artichokes to use up…suggestions?

Artichoke Hummus with farmers' market tomatoes & bell pepper; pitettes; orange segments

I "heart" tomatoes
Lentil loaf: another old fave. If you’d like the recipe, click here. This was my first time preparing Brussels sprouts in the oven. I must say, I love the crunch factor!

Simple Lentil Loaf with organic ketchup; salad; roasted Brussels sprouts; plain yogurt with flax & dates

Now I am off to plan my outfit for a wedding I am attending this weekend. Later!

That tomato heart is so cute!
How do you eat that yogurt mixture? Like do you chop up the dates or just eat them whole?
LOL Funny story:
I clicked your link, and then I clicked a link under “related stories” and it led me to this: http://www.lemondrop.com/2009/06/16/teen-falls-sleep-during-face-tattoo/
basically a teen fell asleep during her tattoo (she must have nerves of steel) and got 56 tattoos all over her face. She woke up and found out and was horrified. She sued him, claiming he completley misunderstood her directions. LMAO.
I would like a tattoo of a cupcake! But temporary, please. I’m not THAT adventurous!
Man…I’m really loving your peaches and cream…of wheat! hee hee! cute!
OMG all those tattoos are huge! I think I would do something cute like an orange slice or watermelon slice, something fruity
that lentil loaf looks really good! im going to try it soon
That leg o’ veggies in the slideshow was so cool! I think I would get a little bowl of oatmeal! haha
What is it about coconut that screams SUMMER! I crave it all the time now!
I’m making that lentil loaf asap! I have a lot of lentils in the pantry to use up!
Artichokes are fabulous with salad or on top of a pizza. Love them! Lol @ the heart tomato! Brussel sprouts get sooo delish in the oven. Roasting brings out all that caramelization
. I get so excited for weddings, hope you have fun picking the outfit!
personally, i never want to get a tattoo. but if i WERE to get a foodie tattoo, there’s no question about what it would be of. a bowl of oatmeal. NO DOUBT in my mind. haha! that gallery was entertaining. i like the corn tattoo for some reason.
and i love the looks of that peaches n cream of wheat. it’s like healthy peach cobbler in a bowl. your eats always impress me!
as for the artichokes, (they’re artichoke hearts, right?) a simple way to use them is just in a salad or a wrap or a pasta dish. that’s always good. or as a side dish, just eat them straight up, dipped in a yummy dressing! orrrr for a more interesting idea, i don’t have a recipe for this, but you could make an artichoke-spinach dip. yummmm. i love artichokes.
have a good night!

If I got a food tat, it would have to be something vegetal, I think. Peapods maybe? That could be fun. I’ve got a lot of ink already so I think I could probably squeeze something food-related somewhere
I love artichokes! I never thought to put them in hummus! When do I buy them, I usually end up eating them straight from the can.
I’d have to get a tatoo of an orange!! My favorite fruit!
How far was your run?!?!?!

I’ve been planning to make Lentil loaf with your recipe for weeks. Come on, Mama LovIN, get on that!!!
haha that tomato rules. and i am digging the peaches n cream! peaches are my fave. ohhh food tats. my boyfriend is covered in tattoos, unfortunately (i am not a fan of them) and he has a bottle of hot sauce. my other friend has bacon and eggs on his knee and yet another friend has a burrito on his arm. if i HAD to get something tattooed on me food-wise.. it would have to be one of my top 5: ice cream, cereal, cheese, hummus or a burrito. none of those would look too classy, ha
That lentil loaf looks so good! You can buy that at this restaurant near where I live but I bet it doesn’t taste nearly as good as yours does.
The artichokes would be great on top of a homemade pizza, or a version of pizza. Also in pasta dishes and salads!
why is everything you make look so beautifully prepared and delicious?! I think it’s about time I took a trip to your kitchen haha
And woww that shadowing sounds like such an awesome experience! I cant wait to hear more about it!
hmm I would have to say that my food tat. would be a nice jar of peanut butter
mm that peaces n cream of wheat looks amazing!
I’m way too indecisive to ever get a tattoo but in the sake of the question, I think a little strawberry would be cute. Definitely some sort of fruit. I think it’d just be weird to have a jar of peanut butter tattooed on my body haha.
AH the idea of a foodie tattoo is sort of hilarious. I would love a piece of fruit or something pretty like that. A strawberry? Hmm so many choices!
I have two foodie tattoos!!!! I’ve got a cupcake and a bunch of fruits on my foot. I’ve been planning to get vegetables on the other foot
I’m impressed with your tomato chopping skills! Whenever I cut them like that, the guts ooze out
Would a hummus tattoo be completely inappropriate?! Glad your shadowing went well!!
Your oatbran looks great, nice flavor combo! I love cherry smoothies, Its amazing what you can do with lentils.

I love the foodie tattoos! I have 6 tattoos myself but none of them are of food, haha. I would probably have to get a jar of peanut butter, like Christina said. Most definitely!
Yummy looking cream of wheat!
Love the looks of that lentil loaf, too!
Not sure if I’d ever get a food tattoo….
The lenitl loaf looks scrumptious. I could go for that meal right about now! I always roast my brussels if I have time.
I’ve actually thought about a food tattoo, something like an artsy cornucopia of fruits and veggies. It’ll be a ways off if I actually do it though. That gallery was kind of neat, I liked the salt shaker and the cabbage.
Ohhh a food tattoo would be so cute, I really don’t know what I would get maybe a blueberry or a raspberry I think those fruits are so cute.
Yay! So glad the shadowing went well!
Your peach oats look gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!! Haha, if food can look gorgeous….then your oats definitely do!
Haha I totally want a food tat. Maybe I’d get one of a squash. Or a bowl of cereal. Or a big banana.
You’re really making me want to buy some Cream of Wheat now, I haven’t had it in ages! And I’m pretty sure some artichoke hummus and lentil loaf might have to be in my near edible future.
oh I had to come back to get the lentil loaf recipe!
That cream of wheat is gorgeous with the coconut butter!
Good luck finding wedding attire! I just got a dress for a wedding in a month- hope you find something wonderful!
I am very jealous of your job shadowing. I wonder if I could wrangle some of that next year in preparation for applying to Dietetics the year after. Something to ponder, that’s for sure.
And although I’m all for the body art, I don’t know that there is any particular food that I would actually want tattooed on my body.
