Forever Duke
Good morning, all! I took a mini-hiatus from blogland last night and headed to celebrate Duke Homecoming at the President’s Ball.
The event was a mixed alumni-current student gathering with live music, free food, and an open bar. I wasn’t really into the chicken fingers and mini-meatballs, but I did enjoy a free glass of wine (not to mention the ample opportunity for people watching).
While I appreciate free food and entertainment, the real highlight of the evening was meeting up with my former roommate/soul-mate, Alanna!
When was the last time you visited your alma mater?
Now let’s rewind to yesterday morning—breakfast time!
I had some major shopping to do for the foods lab, so I made a quick bowl of trail mix oat bran.
With the knowledge that we would be heading to one of my favorite restaurants for dinner, I had a light lunch. I made my Fried Egg & Avocado Sandwich…in wrap form.
Before heading to the ball, Seth and I hit up Butternut Squash again. After an order of the lovely hummus, I enjoyed my favorite salad, the Wholemeal Salad with rice, corn, black beans, peanuts, raisins, and pretty much any other delicious ingredient you can think of for a salad.
Alright, we are off to enjoy the day! Happy weekend to all

Hey Caroline!
I just wanted to say that I’ve been following your blog for a while and LOVE your recipes, and I just found out via your post this morning that you are a Duke grad! I graduated from Duke in May of 2010. What a small world!
