From Wands to Chopsticks
As per usual, I spent Black Friday as far away from the mall as possible. Instead, Seth and I passed the time by relaxing with dinner and a movie. Specifically, we began the evening with a viewing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Although my Harry Potter infatuation ended many years ago, the film still managed to hold my attention for a full two and a half hours, even if there were a few corny parts (e.g., Ron’s light of my heart speech).
Then we put down the wands and traded them in for a few chopsticks for dinner at a Pittsfield hotspot, Spice restaurant. Details on the meal to follow…
How did you spend this Black Friday? Did you brave the crowds or choose alternative entertainment?
Before any of the aforementioned activities began, however, I grabbed some breakfast and lunch.
Despite my previous rants on the superiority of creamy peanut butter over the crunchy variety, I am finding it rather enjoyable this vacation. It satisfies my need for texture.
After a blissful run around the neighborhood, I concocted a rather genius sandwich featuring faux turkey, deliciously spicy pesto (prepared by Seth’s mom), and garlic-herb Laughing Cow cheese. I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but this was kind of a stroke of culinary genius.
When we arrived at the dinner table, I was presented with an enormous menu. The offerings were largely Asian, with a few fusion dishes thrown in (lobster mac & cheese, anyone?). I was intrigued by the Korean section of the menu, so Seth’s brother recommended that I try the bibim bop with tofu. When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by a bowl full of carrots, bean sprouts, seaweed, tofu, and brown rice. The accompanying barbecue sauce was pretty killer too. Two thumbs up!
Alright, off to meet some of Seth’s friends. Ciao for now, lovelies.

you’re in pittsfield?! i went to williams right near by
i know some lovely running routes right around there!
I’ve always wanted to try out more Korean food. Considering I live in Vancouver, it’s not like it’s hard to find! I’ve heard of bibimbap, but never given it a go.
I went and saw Harry Potter tonight and I thought it was amazing. I usually do not go to the Movie Theaters because I cannot sit for that long, but I was engaged in the entire 2 and 1/2 hour movie.
I am glad to hear that not everyone went shopping on Black Friday. We put our christmas tree and our house is decked out for the holidays!!
yum that dinner dish looks so tasty! and healthy!
I love the sound of Jae’s. Your meal sounds delish!
Looks like a lovely day of eats! Thanks to you, I’m craving a PB&J like you wouldn’t believe! LOL
Black Friday is definitely not my idea of a good time, either! I really want to have a HP marathon and rewatch all of the movies before seeing the new one. Glad you and Seth had a fun day!
Glad you’re enjoying your time at Seth’s families home– looks like their taking good care of you as well as adjusting to your needs. Can’t wait to hear the finished story!
I have not yet seen the newest Harry Potter. I think I stopped keeping up with those movies after the second, oops
Maybe I’ll see this one though, just maybe,
Yay Korean food!! i’m glad you went for the bibimbap. That is a good choice.
I watched HP to review for my school newspaper. It was one of the best movies yet.
hp was suuuuch a better option then black friday shopping! glad you had such a great time with set
That looks like such a fun non-Black Friday way to spend the day!
