Getting Soaked in Style

Thanks to a certain dame named Ida, we have been getting drenched with rain this week. Unfortunately, all this precipitation has taken a toll on my my university’s campus:

Yikes! Our campus is one of those with more trees than people, so ever since catching sight of this, I have been a little paranoid that another one will come tumbling down on top of me.

Despite all this dreariness, I have been doing my best to enjoy it…with stylish raingear:

You likely remember the cherry rain boots

…and my snazzy green jacket

…plus my ‘shroom-like umbrella.

Yep, I’ve been stomping through the puddles in style. How do you stay dry in the rain? Hmm perhaps we should organize a raingear post, similar to GC’s boots post

Let’s take a look at how I’ve been maintaining my energy levels amidst my puddle-jumping:

Banana-peach=killer combo. Try it!

Thursday

I had every intention of making some more grits for breakfast this morning…until I opened my cupboard and discovered this:

Obviously, I had to have PB oats in a jar. (For more ways on how to use Dark Chocolate Dreams, check out this peanut butter post).

After class, I attempted to warm myself up with some lunch. I made a batch of my mock tuna salad (this time with pickles!) and rolled it up in a whole wheat wrap. I found some broccoli slaw in the fridge on its last legs, so I made a crunchy salad out of that with sunflower seeds, cranberries, and a simple ginger dressing I made up.

I recently came to the realization that is has been months since I last made my beloved tofu-banana French toast. I was in a breakfast kind of mood tonight, so I decided it was high time I indulged in a little French toast action. This time, however, I made them into sticks, making them ideal for dunkage.

Alright, I am off to work on my paper about bananas—yes, bananas. My mission is to either defend or disprove the myth that “bananas are fattening.” Considering my dinner choice this evening, I don’t think it’s a mystery as to which side I’ll choose:) Good night all!

  1. Stay safe in the storms!! I stay dry with my umbrella.

You better keep embracing the B-A-N-A-N-A-S in your paper, girl!! :-D

  2. Yikes! Avoid falling trees. I don’t think I’ve opened my jar of Dark Chocolate Dreams since coming to college.

  3. Dude, I don’t think bananas could possibly be fattening unless they are found in a split. Psh.

I am feelin the french toast action! Looks like i know what’s for breakfast. :)

  4. Those dippers look SO GOOD, I’m definatly craving french toast right now.

  5. Hang in there Caroline – it won’t rain forever!

  6. What? Banana is fattening. Pshhh, no way … too bad banana is freaking expensive right now in Aus (5.99 per kg, redic) or else i’ll try that smoothie combo asap.

Ahhh, I love your rainboots, so cute. I should get one in prep for the next winter.

  7. Love the umbrella! Clear umbrellas are so cool.

  8. such cute rain boots! those will come in handy. and i am loving this dippage going on.

  9. OMG! That looks so scary! I’m a fraidy cat, so I’d be extra careful walking arpund campus, too! Please be careful! BTW, your eats looked so amazing! Mock tuna? That’s awesome! ANd I love the tofu-banana french toast – what’s your recipe? And do people really thing bananas are fattening? Maybe if you eat like 5 of them in one sitting but if you have one, it’s really the perfect one food meal. Good luck on your paper!

  10. Wow! That is quite the site! Both the tree and the French toast!!!

I once had my neighbor’s tin shed wind up in my pool after a huge storm during the night. I woke up and felt like I was in the Wizard of Oz.

    But seriously, that french toast…..

  11. oh my gosh..tofu french toast sticks! sounds so good..i love all your smoothie combos!

  12. That french toast looks great!
I love bananas, and I don’t care if they’re fattening. Before, I was worried, everybody talked about banana’s high GI, but I just don’t care. I need that pottasium :) )

  13. hate storms and rainy days… but love your umbrella and rain-boot! :)

  14. Ahh, how scary! I don’t use anything but my hood to stay dry but I really want a pair of rainboots!

    Banana french toast! YUM!

  15. The only bad thing about bananas is that they’re reeeally high in sugar, even compared to some other fruits. But so are sweet potatoes, so whatever :P

    Love that “tuna salad”!

  16. Just wanted to stop in and say that I love your blog and your amazing smoothie and food creations! That Tofu Banana French Toast looks yummy…is there a way that you could give the recipe?? :)

    Thanks!

  17. Great rain boots. I am never prepared for the rain, I always forget my umbrella and wear the wrong coat.

  18. WOW, yeah this weather needs to go AWAY.. they are calling for a nice weekend though!! At least you looked cute with all your rain accessories.

Your french toast sticks look super yum.. love that you had some dippers to go with them :)

    Have a great weekend.

  19. That breakfast and dinner? YUM! Trees falling down scare me!! I live in the boonies (kind of) so whenever there’s bad storms it makes me nervous.

  20. HOLD UP….tofu banana french toast? where is the recipe on this one?

LOVE your boots…i have a pair of red flowered ones i am in love with. have a wondrous day dear!

  21. Stay dry! I fear that my Saturday is going to be filled with rain thanks to Ida! What a lovely day of eats. Love the “tuna salad”, slaw and the french toast sticks! Glad your defending one of my favorite fruits in your paper, they really shouldn’t get a bad rap!

  22. Yikes, watch out for those trees! I am rocking rain boots too this week- no shame in splashing in puddles at the age of 27, right? ;)

  23. This definitely makes me want to get some pumpkin butter on my next trip to the store! And I’m sooo sick of the rain!!

  24. Wow, that’s a crazy amount of damage. Poor trees! At least you stay cute in the rain.

  25. thats one serious umbrella! it looks like you would never get wet the way its built! I hate when an umbrella only covers half of you and your bag or back ends up getting soaked!!

genious idea with the banana french toast and tofu sticks!! do you use banana in the batter or just banana slices on the side? looks sooo good!!

  26. love the cherry boots and the idea of a raingear post =)

  28. Sounds like a fun paper. I don’t know what I’d do without bananas! And whose dog is that? He/she is ADORABLE!

  29. ive always wanted one of those mushroom umbrellas! rain gear post, rain gear post…lets tell GC to get on it :)

  30. I live in one of the rainiest places, and yet I don’t own an umbrella. I hate having to carry around something extra with me all day, it’s just asking to get left somewhere. I just wear a waterproof jacket with a hood all the time, therefore keeping me dry :)
