Hangin’ with Ma and Pa
Good evening, all! Tonight I happily write to you amidst the comforts of my parents’ hotel suite. This weekend is Parents’ Weekend at my university, and my mom and dad graciously made the trip for the fourth year in a row—I love being the baby of the family:) Anyway, I have spent much of the day preparing for their arrival and just enjoying their company. We’ve already made the obligatory Target run, visited our favorite Durham eatery, Taverna Nikos, and tomorrow’s plans may include some shopping action. How do you like to spend time with your parents?
Well, I would like to chat with Mumsy, so I best get onto the grub:
Thursday
After a few days of hempy-ness, the fluffy/cloud-like texture of Spirutein made for a delicious change of pace last night.
Friday
More smoothie lovin’ was on the menu for breakfast this morning. This particular breakfast was quite protein-rich, with over 22 grams—I’m making slow but steady progress in my goal of increasing protein intake.
Before heading out to another tutoring appointment, I prepared a spiced cauliflower soup inspired by the most recent issue of Clean Eating. As per usual, I was a bit heavy-handed with the turmeric, but it still tasted delicious. I added chickpeas at the end for protein.
As mentioned above, my parents and I headed to Taverna Nikos for dinner—yes, the same place we went last year, and the same place I went with Lea and Ryan last February. What can I say? I like good Greek food.
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend. Be back Sunday!

Hello and welcome! I have created this blog for people who love food, especially healthful, vegetarian food.
I currently attend college in North Carolina, where I am studying English and psychology, although I plan on pursuing an additional degree in nutrition after I graduate. Ideally, I would like to combine my love of food and the written word someday as a health writer.

Enjoy the weekend with your parents! It was so nice of them to come for Parent’s Weekend.
I like to go grocery shopping with my parents, by which I mean have them pay for mine
In all seriousness, I love asking them to take me out to dinner, which I know they like too because they never take themselves out for a treat
