How to Procrastinate Like a Food Blogger

1. Look at the ever-growing list of projects to do before December 8th. Decide to cut up a pomegranate instead.

2. Attempt to begin research on 20-page paper. Get distracted by Twitter.

3. Suddenly realize that making cranberry sauce is essential to your mental health. You must tend to the pot: no multi-tasking allowed.

4. Consider reading one of the articles assigned for this week. No, catching up on blog e-mail is far more urgent.

5. Dither about what to make for dinner. Choose the most time-consuming recipe possible.

6. Make a smoothie, read blogs, and go to bed. You’ve had a rough day.

Repeat.

Such is my life these days. Although I get bursts of motivation (by necessity), my interest these days clearly lies in anything but schoolwork. Just 17 days until I go home or Turkey Day…Do you procrastinate much? What are your favorite methods? I’m always looking for new strategies:)

Onto the fruits of my procrastination:

Tuesday

I’m getting bored with my smoothie topping—pumpkin granola is just not cuttin’ it every night. I tried to add a little variety last night by mixing in some raw oats…I need better ideas.

Wednesday

This morning’s breakfast was inspired by fast food fare—I opted for a soy sausage and cheese bagelwich. (I know, it looks like a cheeseburger in the picture). De-lish.

For lunch, I prepared two favorite foods of mine: Dreena’s White Bean Hummus and a Waldorf salad (sans chicken).

It got quite chilly these evening here in Durham, so I decided to warm myself with a hot batch of black bean gumbo. Due to an impulsive buying mood at Whole Foods this week, I actually had some okra on hand.

Alright, I think maybe I’ll go do some moderately enjoyable homework: novel reading! Good night all!

  24. I am a procrastinator extraordinaire! I’ve been perfecting the art for years, both in and out of school. I generally find a new puzzle game to become addicted to, and play that for hours on end without a thought of doing homework. Eventually, I’ll get bored of it, and move onto something else.
