Ice Cream and Cake!
Due to my not-so-minor obsession with the Food Network, I have seen this commercial approximately 98746792 times in the past week. Although the incessant repetition of “ICE CREAM AND CAKE” is initially annoying, I’ve grown to like it. I rock out to it when I’m passing through the kitchen and hear it on the TV. I even caught myself humming it on my run this morning. I also have a fondness for that funky dancing dinosaur. Kudos to Baskin Robbins for developing a successful, albeit simple, marketing tool, although I really have no intention of buying an ice cream cake anytime soon. What commercial jingles get stuck in your head? Did you actually buy whatever product/service it was selling?
No ice cream or cake were on the menu today, but I was pretty satisfied with what did go down the gullet. Check it out:

I think I am getting bored with my smoothies. Gasp! Did I just say that? Somebody suggest creative recipes, quick!

Banana and avocado is truly heavenly. I am thinking it might be good in oatmeal…totally normal, right?

After completing my chem lab final, I came home and prepared a quick salad using another package of tempeh strips. Turtle Island sent me some coupons for three free packages of these tempeh strips, and this is flavor number two (you can see the first flavor in these posts). The verdict? The sesame garlic was far superior to the coconut curry. Although this variety was palatable, the flavor was a tad muddled; both the coconut and curry flavors were too strong, causing taste-bud confusion. Maybe another preparation method will make the flavors “shine.”

While at the lake this weekend, I discovered that someone had squirreled away a copy of Rachael Ray’s 2,4,6,8 Cookbook. Ironically, despite my love of her talk show, I do not own a single one of Ray Ray’s cookbooks…until now. I brought it home with me of course, and its pages delivered inspiration for tonight’s dinner. She features a recipe for Warm Potato-Cranberry Dressed Salad, but I switched it up of course, using white sweet potatoes (instead of red), usinng fresh cranberries (instead of dried), and adding navy beans and walnuts. It was quite Thanksgiving-esque and tasty:) Recipe will follow!

Now I must decide if I want to do homework…or read my new Clean Eating magazine. Tough call;) Ciao!![]()

That commercial gets stuck in my head! It’s like the Peanut Butter Jelly Time song!! What a fantastic dinner creation – I never knew there were white sweet potatoes!
Hehe, I’ve never seen that commercial, as much as I watch Food Network. Maybe it’s because I flip to What Not to Wear, fitTV, or some other show during commercial breaks?
Hmm, maybe try changing up the milk or protein powder in your smoothies? HEAB has been trying this pea protein powder that sounds awesome.
I love Thanksgiving food and Rachael Ray’s recipes–that recipe is just calling my name
