I’m on the List
It seems like just yesterday that I was in a desperate search for local races here in Raleigh. I Googled, I Tweeted, I scoured Active.com, but I was met with disappointing results. I was stumped.
I soon found out that the secret is to sign up for one race—then you’re on “the list.” Once a local running organization has your contact information, you’ll be tuned into race events, whether you like it or not. Today, I retrieved just a week’s worth of mail and found not one, not two, but three race notifications—and two were for a half marathon. Perhaps 2011 will be the year I complete a half-marathon? Anyway, I’m suddenly in-the-know about these type of events as a result of completing the Monster Dash back in October.
No matter your preferred sport, how do you find out about local races and events?
I spent most of today traveling, but let’s take a look at what I ate along the way.
After a quick elliptical workout, I fueled up with a few whole wheat waffles.
Lunch was packed late last night. I brought along the usual PB & J for myself, plus a turkey sandwich for Seth.
Once back in Raleigh, both of us were too tired and grocery-deficient to make dinner. Hence, a stop at the Whole Foods hot bar was in order.
With that, I wish you good night!

Nah, I just make weird salads–eating them as often as I do, I get bored:)
I think I’ve never read a post from you without some kind of tofu in it.
Now I want a PB & J….
I sometimes use Active.com
I found a runner club near me! You can look one up ar RRCA.com I think?
Yes! Once I signed up for a local race I started getting tons of race sign ups. I also use Active.com. I think this is definitely your year for a half
I totally want to buy a box of clementines after seeing this. Yum yum
I think I want to try an 8K this year. There is a cool one nearby in Charlotte. I’ve procrastinated. But maybe this spring I should “just do it.” (Thanks, Nike, for the phrase!)
