Just the Two of Us

This afternoon, my mom left for a trip to Chicago. Accordingly, it’s just the two of at home now–my dad and me. My dear dad is the only one in the family who appreciates who appreciates good food almost as much as I do: we frolic through Whole Foods together, exchange recipes via e-mail, and engage in other such foodie activities. Today, for example, he picked out a cornbread recipe for me to make (from the Birmingham News), and then we visited my favorite little health food store.

I am sure the weekend will bring even more father-daughter bonding:) What are you up to this weekend?

Onto the eats:

Thursday

I’ve made this Better Bunny Salad from Rudi’s several times but never once used consumed it with a Rudi‘s product. Not so sure how they’d feel about that…it made for the perfect combo with this Ezekiel bread though! Gotta love those walnuts too.

Lunch: my old stand-by.

This variety did not have such a noticeable “protein” taste–it was quite delicious when mixed with the pumpkin.

After the health food store, my dad and I headed to my sister’s house on the other side of town. I got in some good pug lovin’ and Office-watching. By the time we returned home, I was more than ready for some fuel. What would I do without Annie‘s dressings?

I find it a little bit too sweet for my taste though but loved it anyway, and knowing they’re so much healthy than standard one made me enjoy it more! :)

  11. Yum, those donuts look incredible!! I’d be all over the cinnamon one :D

  12. Great cornbread – YUM! I had Holey Donuts yesterday too! I think you should start with the lowfat cinnamon stredsel my favorite!

    Love that Annie’s dressing too.

  13. Wicked jealous of your donuts! They look amazing.

Just catching up with your posts and I was reading your review of Rachel’s cottage cheeses and thinking that I thought the exact same things when I tried them! I really liked the sweet ones for a filling snack, and the savory ones were great toppings for salads and baked sweet potatoes. I hope they go on sale often. :)

  14. I recently got some holey doughnuts. They were pretty good. I haven’t tried all the flavors yet but my favorite so far was the coconut. I also liked the lemon filled one but it doesn’t look like you guys got that flavor. Enjoy! Give us a review when you try them!
