Just Want My Reese’s

Over the past few weeks, you may have noticed that stores are being taken over by orange and black. Yep, with Halloween looming around the corner, it’s officially candy season. Never one to skip an opportunity to be festive (or shall I say feastive?), I’ve been in search of my ultimate Halloween candy for weeks. I love all the annual favorites—Baby Ruth, Skittles, and Butterfingers—but there is a particular variety that continues to evade me in every store I search: Reese’s Pieces.

Sure, plenty of stores carry them by the pound, but I want the snack-size. I could say that the snack-size is essential for distributing to trick-or-treaters…but in reality, it’s because I need some portion control in case I attack the RPs myself. I’ve checked Target, Harris Teeter, Rite Aid, CVS, and even Costco, but I still sit here tonight alone, without those tiny pieces of chocolate-peanut butter joy by my side. Sniff.

So, if anyone knows where I can find snack-size pouches of Reese’s Pieces, please let me know!

What was your favorite Halloween candy as a kid? In addition to Reese’s Pieces, I always liked M&Ms because I could separate them into neat little piles by color before eating them. Yes, I have always loved the art of categorization.

To make up for my lack of Reese’s Pieces, I’ve been eating lots of other tasty things…

I was in a “wacky” kind of mood this morning and decided to make a parfait with raspberries and pumpkin yogurt. It ended up being friggin’ delicious. Who knew raspberries and pumpkin could be so tasty together?

For lunch,  I packed a tote full of Peanut Sesame Hummus.

I had an exam during class today, and by the end of it my tummy was rumbling hard-core. It’s a good thing I remembered to back the Bar of the Week: Apricot Cashew Boomi Bar.

I tore into this thing on my drive home and enjoyed every morsel. It reminded me of a fruity Rice Krispies Treat.

For dinner, I made up a batch of Creamy Tofu Pesto. I didn’t have my recipe in front of me, so I accidentally ended up making a double batch, which made for a lovely sauce:pasta ratio. More pesto is always a good thing.

Alright, now I am off to figure out travel arrangements for winter break. Ta-ta!

  2. Snickers is where it’s at ;)

  3. Forget Reese’s Pieces… Peanut Butter M&M’s were the best :-D

  4. Hehe I always liked the chocolate. And I’d give my sister all the candy (sprees, nerds, sweet tarts, skittles, etc.). If it wasn’t chocolate, I didn’t want to know about it!

  5. How do I subscribe to your blog?
I love it. I’m a university student too and find your blog very relatable. Great food ideas as well. yum…

  6. oops just answered my own question.

  7. Caroline–I haven’t seen the snack size RP’s sold by themselves but I HAVE seen them in a big bag with Reese’s cups and some other Reese’s candy. It was 3 types in one large-ish bag. I saw it at Publix in the buy 1 get 1 free section. Guess I should buy one and take out the Pieces to bring to you when we visit. :)

Yes, yes, yes! Thanks, Mom :)

  8. Yum, that pasta looks super great. I just made pesto but never thought to actually blend it in with tofu!

  9. Even as a child, my love for peanut butter was there as I always went for the Recess PB pieces, peanut M &Ms and the “peanut butter filled M&Ms”…. those were definitely my fav.

Haven’t seen any pre-portioned Recess….keep looking. Maybe try WF or other health food stores, they may be healthier, too!

  10. I JUST LOOOOVE YOUR Parfait! mhhmmmmm i invent my own but yours always look hot on the spot.

  11. I have to admit that I wasn’t picky with Halloween candy as long as it was chocolate. Never did care for the candy or suckers! :)
