Lesson Learned

Today’s lesson: One should not cook while wearing a bathing suit.

Despite the pleasant, running-friendly temperature this morning, I opted to go for a swim due to achy joints. As per usual, after my workout I set about preparing breakfast. This time, however, instead of sporting my sweaty running tank and shorts while cooking, I was wearing my dripping bathing suit. I soon discovered that such garments were a poor choice for culinary endeavors. By the time breakfast was served, I had splattered hot oatmeal on my stomach, stained my belly button with blueberry juice, and dripped water from my damp bathing suit all over the kitchen. While seemingly convenient, preparing meals in your bikini is not a good idea, my friends.

What did you learn today?

Aside from my slightly dysfunctional breakfast preparation, I was quite a productive little booger today—finalizing details for my new apartment, furniture shopping, setting up my fall classes, and getting all three of my watches fixed. Shweet. Here’s the food that kept me going:

This breakfast certainly was not a joy to prepare, but it was dang tasty. I enjoy the blueberry-banana combo so often I think I should come up with a new name for it—Bloonana? Bananabloob? Suggestions welcome.

After scouring furniture stores all morning, I returned home for a quick lunch.

Dinner-time snuck up on me again, so I turned to the freezer for inspiration. My friend Amy came to the rescue yet again.

I am seriously in need of some groceries, so I am off for a fun evening at Publix. Good night!

  1. Today I learned that casein has been shown to be an addictive substance and that that’s probably why kicking dairy feels a little like kicking drugs. Greeaaaat

  2. This post totally reminds me of the time when I made oatmeal without a shirt on (don’t ask). Haha. I had a burn for two weeks!

  3. Did you know I’ve never had an Amy’s burger? CRAZY!

Awesome eats as always, pretty girl.

  4. but would you rather have your belly stained with blueberry juice or your favorite shirt? conundrum!

i watched an episode of No Reservations today and learned that during WWII the U.S. dropped more bombs on the tiny island of Laos than on Germany and Japan combined. There are still thousands of uexploded bombs buried there and hundreds of innocent people die each year from hitting them with shovels or tractors. (i usually don’t ramble like this, but learning about Laos made me really really sad!)

  5. I am the messiest cook EVER! I’m always splattering food all over myself. I usually make oatmeal in my PJs, so my sweatshirts always end up with crusted oatmeal on them :-D

  6. Haha…love this post! :D

And lovin’ those cherries too! They’re on sale this week and I can’t wait to stock up. :D

  7. Lol, this reminds me of that Friends episode when Joey talks about the dangers of cooking bacon while naked! Hope you didn’t burn yourself too badly!

  8. I vote “Bananabloob” ;-)

  9. Oh the hazards of making delicious eats, it’s a dangerous job but someones gotta do :) So just curious, as a vegetarian how much tofu do you eat daily/weekly? I’ve started incorporating it into my diet but I know there are still questions about overconsumption sobim trying to monitor my intake.

  10. I am a horribly messy cook – I almost always cook in a “crappy” t-shirt and shorts as not to ruin my work/good clothes.

Good luck with the furniture shopping!

  11. Love your pictures!
