LLDOC
So I am currently in the midst of a graduate crisis. It’s like a mid-life crisis, only twenty years earlier, and it involves the sudden realization that one is no longer a child. Rather, I am now twenty-two years old, nearly a college graduate, and hence on the brink of being subjected to the hazards of the real world.
What brought on this sudden crisis? Yesterday marked my last last day of classes (LLDOC). Sure, I’ll be taking classes in graduate school, but yesterday represents a milestone, a sort of end of my undergraduate experience. As one particularly cruel freshman friend pointed out to me last week, “If I were you, I’d be scared s**tless right now. Your days as a kid are over. I mean, you’re old enough to start thinking about having your own kids!”
WHOA. I feel so unprepared for this life change—I still watch Spongebob Squarepants, like to eat with my fingers, and occasionally shop at Old Navy Kids! Hopefully the new few weeks will bring some closure to this crisis, as I am sure I will adjust to adulthood…eventually.
Anyway, I spent my LLDOC hanging out with Seth’s parents and watching a concert. Sadly, my camera card ate all my pictures from yesterday, so we will have to make do with some recycled pictures, plus a few brought to you by the magic of Google Images. Enjoy.
Before heading out to my exam yesterday morning, I fueled up with a protein shake, featuring vanilla vegan protein (BioChem), strawberries, banana, almond milk, & PB. The one below (from this post) clearly included some blueberry action too.
For lunch, we headed to Sushi Love again, where I enjoyed the usual edamame and veggie rolls. (Pictures from Spring Break).
Once dinnertime rolled around, we settled on Blue Corn Cafe. There was much guacamole goodness involved. While I was tempted to order the Black Bean Tortas again, I opted for a sweet potato-black bean stew instead. It was quite delectable and surprisingly sweet—there were even chunks of pineapple in the mix.
Afterward, Seth and I headed to campus for the Flogging Molly concert. ‘Twas a good time.
Now I am off to pick up my graduation tickets. Hopefully next time I will have some real pictures to show you. Toodles!

Hello and welcome! I have created this blog for people who love food, especially healthful, vegetarian food.
I have just graduated from Duke University with degrees in English and psychology. I plan to pursue a master's degree in nutrition starting in Fall 2010. Ideally, I would like to combine my love of food and the written word someday as a health writer.

Hope the graduate crisis ends soon! Glad that the meeting parents went well (from your last post).
I love the combo of sweet potato and black beans, I am sure it was great! I had major stress when I graduated but now…I am so happy that undergrad is over!
hang in there girl! I think everyone goes through some stress when they are geting to the end of their undergrad carreer…there is so much unknown! but trust me, you will get everything figured out and be HAPPY AS A CLAM!! (are clams happy?! I never understood that saying! haha)
Graduating is scary, but being an adult has it’s perks too… and for the record, I am turning 28 this year and still wear Hello Kitty socks and have water fights (ie, the kiddie stuff hasn’t stopped!)
