Lunch-lady Couture
For much of this afternoon, I had to fight the urge to burst out singing “Lunch Lady Land.” Why? Check out my sexy get-up:
As part of my Principle of Foods course this semester, I have to play “dietician dress-up” on a weekly basis for our lab sessions in which we demonstrate cooking techniques through various recipes. Hence, today’s lovely ensemble.
In case you’re curious, this afternoon’s lab session yielded homemade mayonnaise, balsamic vinaigrette, and panna cotta:)
What’s the most embarrassing uniform you’ve had to wear?
No mayo or panna cotta to show you tonight, but I do have a few other food pics to share…
What could be better than a pumpkin-banana protein shake for breakfast? A pumpkin-banana protein shake with cinnamon graham crackers.
Inspired by Katie’s Artisana week, I prepared some Mango Curry Hummus, in which Artisana’s coconut butter plays a starring role. My conclusion after lunch: my life would be more complete if I made this hummus more often.
Dinner was a continuation of the coconut-fest with my Spicy Peanut Butter Coconut Tofu.
Schoolbooks, the vacuum,, and Glee now beckon for my attention. Ciao.

My first job was at Ben & Jerry’s! A few days in the summer I dressed up as a cow on the side of the road to grab customers. I have pictures… memories.
Let me know what you thought of Glee!
I was in Girl Scouts for over ten years (started as a Brownie in elementary school and ended up a Senior GS in high school), and the worst uniform I had to wear definitely came with that.
For some reason I just always hated those sashes/vests/dress coded ensembles and booth sales/cookie sale time was the WORST.
My mom was the leader of my troop, and she borrowed those cookie costumes from the local GS office so I spent a number of hours dressed up as a certain flavor of GS cookie with the oversized shoes/Mickey Mouse-ish gloves to match. :/
you wear that hairnet with PRIDE, lady!
Daaaaaamn girl, looking good in that hairnet. You should model those things.
LOVED tonight’s glee.
Sexy hair net—- you worked it! ; )
You look so prof in that “uniform”!!!
it’s so funny that you have to cook for a course… I’d love to be in that course.
haha no worries- I’m rockin the same outfit when I go to my ‘Science of Food’ lab. Except you one-upped me with the hairnet
I LOVE those cinnamon grahams!
So cool that you get to cook for your classes! And that pumpkin banana smoothie looks delicious. Actually, everything does.
i want that tofu!!!!!!!!
i once had to dress up as a chiquita banana and hand out blow up bananas (insert crude joke here) in a grocery store. i feel you.
and i NEED those cinnamon whole grain graham crackers! those sound so dang good. happy wednesday
ugh WHY do you remind me that i seriously need to hit the school books! maybe i’ll put it off for one more day…
hahaha ugh major fail.
i think the worst unform i’ve had to wear was the bright purple spandex leotard in elementary school for my twirling recitle! hahahaha so weird looking
haha, LOVE the uniform! the worst i’ve had is target–red top, khaki pants. i will never wear the two together again!
You have reawakened my love for hummus. Um, probably eaten it everyday this week. Yum-o.
