Meet the Parents, Part II
Greetings, bloggigans! I apologize for my unexpected absence last night—there were a few factors that combined for less-than-ideal blogging conditions: 1) I re-formatted my camera card and subsequently lost all my photos, including those from breakfast and lunch yesterday; 2) I was studying for a major test; and 3) I was dithering about last night’s impending sequel to Meet the Parents. It is this last factor that I discuss below.
As you may recall, part one of Meet the Parents occurred last February, when Seth accompanied me home to Birmingham for my 10K race. Despite my worst fears that it would be a weekend of unending humiliation, it was ultimately an enjoyable and relaxing weekend. Go figure—my family is capable of being normal on occasion.
Now it’s my turn. Seth’s parents arrived in Durham yesterday afternoon, and, as you might expect, I was a mess of anxiety all day as a result. Generally, I put great excessive emphasis on what other people think of me, so the preceding 24 hours consisted of nervousness and more than a couple phone calls to Mom:
“Hi Mom, it’s me. What should I wear?”
“Hey. Yeah, I’m calling again. Please calm me down.”
“Mom, I think I need a hug.”
At least my weekly trip to Whole Foods distracted me for a while:)
Anyway, as it turns out, I had nothing to be worried about. I was just as comfortable with Seth’s parents as I was with him the first time we met.
Mr. and Mrs. Cohen are occasional visitors to the Broccoli Hut (hello, if you’re reading!). Accordingly, they are well-aware of my foodie-ness and brought me this lovely basket of local food items from their hometown:
I am so excited to try all these rare goodies. THANK YOU! I even love the polka-dot basket;)
We all headed to Guglhupf for dinner last night. Despite my usual shyness regarding food blogging and its associated photography sessions, I took a few photographs of my meal:
Yeah, it seems I just can’t enough beets these days.
I am now off to enjoy my last last day of classes. Be back soon!

How cute of them to embrace your food-bloggerness and bring you that basket of goodies. Definitely a good sign. you are braver than I – I suck at telling people about my food blog.
