Mrs. K’s Cookies
One of my family’s closest friends is quite the gourmand, and her specialty happens to be cookies…Christmas cookies, to be precise. Every Christmas season, the whole family waits anxiously for the big box bearing her latest baked masterpieces. Indeed, Mrs. K’s package provides something for everyone—each one of us has a favorite variety, whether it be the pretty candy cane shortbread or the ever-popular buckeyes. We all practically jump at the chance to chow down on the goodies we’ve been anticipating since last December.
This year, I happened to be the only one home upon their delivery, so I seized the opportunity to photograph these gems in all their glory.
All the cookies pictured above are plenty tasty, but I rummaged through the box until I found my heart’s stomach’s desire.
I don’t know exactly what’s in these buttery delights, but the combination of the icing-filled center and the nutty exterior makes my taste buds sing.
What’s your favorite seasonal cookie?
Although I would have liked to make three meals out of just these cookies, my nutrition education convinced me otherwise.
Now that I have some protein powder in my possession, I made some protein pancakes for breakfast. This time, I added dark chocolate chips in the mix and topped them with banana.
For lunch, I was in a sweet kind of mood (imagine that!), so I made a double PB sandwich—peanut butter and pumpkin butter, that is.
My dad has been bugging me to make roasted Brussels sprouts ever since I arrived home, so I finally appeased him this evening. What can I say? I work magic with the cruciferous.
With that, I bid you good night. Have a happy weekend!

Mmm, buckeyes are the best, but I don’t think I’ve ever made them myself! I need to fix that.
I would be in heaven if my dad asked me to make roasted brussel sprouts. LOL.
Mrs. K’s creations look wonderful, especially those buckeyes (being an OSU alumna).
I have a newfound love for Brussels sprouts!
mmm my fav are snickerdoodles!! those pancakes looks perfect! so plump and fluffy!
I think your fav cookies are basically “icing thumbprint cookies” where the dough is rolled in crushed nuts and the indent is filled with icing instead of jam. But this version is much better than the traditional ones I say

I’ve never tried mashed banana as a pancake topping, as I usually include mashed bananas in the batter. I’ll try it next time though–sounds delish!
Brussel sprouts is my favorite veggie! My dad tried my roasted sprouts once and he loved it, too.
Aw, Mrs. K is awesome. I wish I knew someone whose specialty was cookies, too.
I had an aunt like that who love to bake for everyone. Too bad this season I won’t be home.
Those buckeyes look so gorgeous and sound so yummy
