My Own Food Festival

This weekend, many of my fellow food bloggers are partying it up in San Francisco in honor of the Foodbuzz Blogger Festival. Due to school-related time restrictions, I am unable to join the crowd this year, but I’m not too disappointed. Why? Because I’ll be having my own food festival here in Raleigh—with my parents.

Mumsy and Daddy planned their trip to Raleigh several months ago, and we started discussing restaurants for their visit almost immediately after they booked their plane tickets. Yeah, I guess we’re kind of a foodie family now. We started our food tour of Raleigh this evening with a return trip to Zest (see below), and we have a few picked out for the rest of the weekend…but you’ll have to come back on Sunday for the full details.

Does your family have any favorite restaurants? My parents and I will always have a special place in our hearts for Elmo’s in Durham.

After a chilly run this morning, I returned home supah-hungry. Frozen waffles are always tasty, and more importantly quick to prepare. Topped with pumpkin yogurt, these waffles totally hit the spot.

In between errands, I cooked up some leftovers for lunch. Roasted broccoli never gets old, people.

Shortly thereafter, my parents arrived! We had cheese and crackers at my apartment before heading over to Zest. You’ll recognize a certain hummus platter…

Seth and I have some Freaks & Geeks to watch now. Good night!

  1. Freaks & Geeks = best show ever. just sayin’.

it’s really cute how your whole family is into foodie stuff now. my parents and i have totally different views on food and can’t really bond over it. although there is a japanese restaurant near my home that we all love, a little family-owned hole in the wall, that has the BEST japanese food i’ve ever encountered

  2. Thise waffles with pumpkin yoghurt just look like they taste like heaven! Can I ask you how much you usually run and how often a week?

  6. Yum, all of your salads look so much more appetizing than the ones I prepare (I think I clearly need to work on my presentation!)
I think your hummus creations are awesome btw, I’ve just purchased a mini food processor, and it’s perfect for testing some of them out!

Can’t wait to see your choices for restaurant around Raleigh. I have been living here for 11 years already and still haven’t been out much in the different places, so it is always nice to see recommendations for good places!

  10. I definitely come from a Foodie family as well :) Makes get togethers a lot more fun. The restaurant looks fabulous- especially the hummus plate. Hope the rest of your weekend has been just as spectacular!!
