New Adventures in Motherhood

Some days Margot is a spunky, loveable, and well-behaved dog. Other days like today, however, she’s kind of a handful terror.

It all began with the 6AM wake-up call. According to Margot, if the sun is up, I should be ready to play.

Later this morning, I turn around to discover Miss Margot Mae in the midst of chewing a decorative pillow from my sofa.

After lunch, I find a pile in the corner, and it’s no ordinary poo—it’s laced with neon yellow fuzz. Apparently, tennis ball fuzz is her new favorite food.

And finally, during this evening’s walk Margot finally succeeded in chewing through her leash. Sigh.

Anyone wanna dog-sit for me tomorrow?

Aside from uttering “No, no bad dog!” countless times, I put together a few tasty meals.

After making that chocolate mousse a few days ago, I found myself with some surplus pumpkin hanging around…hence a pumpkin-banana smoothie was born.

A few months ago, I made Ellie’s Chopped Nicoise Salad and loved it. I decided to make it again today for lunch, this time with multi-colored potatoes…and a prettier presentation:)

I had grandiose plans of making a Cornmeal-Crusted Ratatouille Tart this evening, but ultimately hunger pangs convinced me to skip it. Instead, I made my Cheater’s Veggie Calzone. Delish.

Alright, I am off to relax. Good night!

  1. Sigh. Those leashes get pricey! I feel your pain, but that fae I am sure makes up for it.

  2. She may be troublesome but I’m sure she is worth it! Once you get past training, they will be part of your family forever! She is adorable too :D That calzone looks might good too!

  3. This cheaters calzone looks great and Margot totally reminds me of my Westie Lucy! They are both something else it seems :-)

  4. Sounds like you need to get that thing trained ;)

  5. That smoothie looks delicious! And my dog is quite obnoxious her self at times… She barks incessantly at anyone who walks by the house! Hopefully you can get her under control!

  6. Aww she is still in puppy phase! It will get better :) hang in there!!!

  7. She’ll outgrow the chewing soon – hang in there!

The short-term frustration is worth the years of joy she’ll bring you!

  8. Ah, the joys of having a Jack Russell puppy! My boy was an absolute menance to society for the first three years or so… but now he’s just my perfect angel! :) Have you tried the obedience classes they give at Petsmart? The mental stimulation and socialization with strangers and other dogs really was a life saver for me and Skippy.

  9. ohhhh puppies. Theres a reason they’re so darn cute! Frank can only not chew through Kongs & nylabones. Everything else he can rip to shreds! Hope shes a saint today :) The salad does look pretty with all the different colored potatoes. Makes me want to pick up some purple ones!

  10. Makes me remember why I keep telling my son – no we can’t have a dog!

  11. hahaha ohhhh puppiessss

  12. To me dogs are like babies… soooo cute to look at and borrow. I’m pretty content borrowing right now : )
