Nice (Spice!) Rack
As of this afternoon, my herbs and spices all have a lovely new resting place. Thanks to The Container Store, I have a nice spice rack.
If you’ll recall my Christmas post, I received a gift card to The Container Store, perhaps due to my gushing over it last fall. After two weeks of careful consideration as to how I would choose to spend the money, I journeyed to the organization holy-land and bought myself several sets of magnetic spice tins.
My formerly mis-matched collection was transformed into a sleek and spiffy set.
C’mon, you knew the label-maker was gonna come out too.
Along with the spice tins, I also purchased a few more containers for my pantry goods (namely grains)…
…and a coupon organizer. (I added my own labels to suit my shopping needs).
Being organized feels soo good. Yes, I’m a nerd, and I don’t care who knows it.
What are your organization habits like? Do you keep things color-coded and tidy like me, or do you prefer your own organized chaos?
A huge thanks to Jon for the gift card!
Aside from organizing, the rest of my weekend was occupied by another one of my favorite activities—eating, of course.
Saturday
After a lovely Ke$ha-tastic morning workout, I made a bowl of oat bran topped with my beloved honey sesame cashews.
For lunch, I made a simple faux turkey sandwich with pepper jack cheese & avocado. Quite an epic combination, if I do say so myself.
Seth and I spent a quiet evening in last night, so we just walked over to Panera for dinner.
Sunday
This morning’s meal was chock full of broc.
Seth and I decided to do a little exploring this afternoon and set out to find Cafe Harmony, an all-organic cafe here in Raleigh. We both loved our meals…not to mention those slightly addictive veggie chips.
Tonight’s dinner was my first ever experiment with the Crock Pot. On the menu was a split pea soup I found through Danica’s blog, although I made a few modifications to make it vegan and low-sodium. Both Seth and I ended up licking our bowls:)
Alright, The Golden Globes beckon for my attention. Good night!

i LOVE containers and organization haha– this excites me more than you know! (wow that probably sounds so sad ha)
your organization makes me green with envy! i love it!
Thanks for reminding me my pantry and goods need the SAME makeover as you did for yours! I’ve been procrastinating doing the job for quite some time, but it needs to be done
Avocado and cheese is indeed the best combo- especially with salsa and sprouts
That thai peanut wrap looks amazing! And I love being organized… but a lot of times it doesn’t happen because of lack of time
I should check if there is a container store around where I live because it looks like fun!
I NEED to be more organized! I am going to get some cool bins like yours tomorrow
Oh girl, i totally feel you on being organized! I have a coupon organizer that I love and my spices are in alphabetical order.
I can’t tell from the photo- how is the spice rack set up? Is it a holder on the wall? or does it sit on the counter?
The egg white omelette looks awesome! I’ve always wanted to put LC in my omelette, but was afraid of the strange consistency of LC to not melt properly.
wow!! yay for organization.. i should get on that! your peanut wrap thing looks so good!
organization is the best thing in the world. when you’re doing it, it feels good; when you’re done with it, you feel accomplished and when you use the end product, it’s so easy and saves a lot of time!
luuuuuuv the makeover!!!
Hi, I love your blog- your meals are always presented so picture perfect! A few questions
1) I noticed that you eat oat bran sometimes rather than oatmeal. What is the difference (ie specific benefits)
2) Similarly what are the benefits of wheat germ? For example, often you add wheat germ to smoothies, etc rather than nuts. Is it just you prefer the taste
3) Lastly (and sorry for all the questions), but why do you use egg whites and light laughing cow cheese wedges versus whole eggs and real cheese? Since you’re a vegetarian and eggs cholesterol have shown not be a problem in moderation.
I am trying to learn how to eat better, so I really appreciate your input since you seem to know so much about nutrition!
I’m definitely with you on organization! It makes everything so much easier! I love the spice containers you got, too.
Ah, we are one in the same. I love getting organized like this! I have a label maker too!
i had those honey sesame cashews in my hand and was like hmmm maybe next time… i really should try them though they look great! also, when i’m organized my brain just feels so much better and less cluttered. when things are out of control i cant stand it!
Want to come over and help me do mine? I really wish that we had The Container Store here. I just know I would be more organized if we did
I love your new spice rack. it’s so sleek with the metal accent. i cannot wait for the day that i have my own kitchen so that i can totally jazz it up like that.
