"No, it's not a Tamagotchi"
Thankfully, I will no longer have to repeat this phrase to inquisitive peers–my pedometer assignment has finally reached its end. Remember how excited I was about this assignment a few weeks ago? Yeah, well that enthusiasm soon faded after the twelfth person asked me if my pedometer was a Tamagotchi. I had anticipated people mistaking it for a beeper or perhaps an insulin monitor…but a Tamagotchi? I know I appear to be about 14 years old to some people (as I lamented last summer), but seriously, give me some credit.
My little belt loop buddy became quite annoying on treadmill runs, and I got mighty tired of shielding it from the rain last week. As for the food journaling part, it soon became tedious and caused several headaches, as many of the foods I eat are not in the Prevention database. What?! How can they not have any listings for coconut butter?! Anyway, let’s just say that I am glad to back to my normal routine, documenting my meals and activity solely through blogging:)
I have an exam for which I should be preparing right now, but I’ll do a little meal re-cap first:
Monday
What’s better than a chocolate-covered strawberry? A chocolate-covered strawberry with coconut, of course.

choco-berry shake with strawberries, soymilk, chocolate HempShake, vegan chocolate chips, & coconut
Tuesday
Why is it that my blueberry-banana oat bran has been so ugly lately? Remember this beautiful, vibrant bowl? All of my recent creations look more like some kind of unidentifiable sludge.

"I may look like cement, but I am very tasty"
It was fairly late before I got a chance to sit down for lunch. Hence, I relied on one of my trusty Salad Lady recipes–the Greek salad.

Greek Salad: romaine, tomatoes, artichokes, olives, cottage cheese, chickpeas, dill, & oregano; TJ's whole wheat mini pitas; grapes

Apparently, I cannot go entire day without peanut butter or tofu these days…they never disappoint!

Check out what arrived on my doorstep this evening:

What could be in this gorgeous box? (LOVE that wrapping paper!)

One Lucky Duck crackers, macaroons, & bar!
Thank you to VeggieGirl!! I am so excited to try all these products, but the chocolate coconut macaroons are especially appealing. Perhaps they would make a good topping for Samoas oatmeal?
OK, off to study. Good night, all!

Hello and welcome! I have created this blog for people who love food, especially healthful, vegetarian food.
I have just graduated from Duke University with degrees in English and psychology. I plan to pursue a master's degree in nutrition starting in Fall 2010. Ideally, I would like to combine my love of food and the written word someday as a health writer.

I’ll admit I had no idea what a tamagotchi was so I googled it and then laughed out loud. I totally remember these now and I can’t believe that people actually thought that’s what you had dangling from your hip!
LOLOLOLOLOL I remember those annoying little things!! We had like 500, and I felt so smart when I figured out how to get them to sleep forever so I didn’t have to feed them… umm, then what was the point???
The only thing more annoying was the furby!
LOL. I just googled that too and was totally cracking up. Did someone seriously think that?
tomagotchis and giga pets!! i was obsessed when i was little!!
a tomagotchi, hahaha! i totally used to have one of those in 5th grade!
i just bought some oat bran! can’t wait to try it.
everything is better with coconut
I can’t wait to see what you make from Sarma’s book. You know I want you to come cook for me. Bring tempeh bacon.
I’m going to have blueberries oat this morning! isn’t it pretty?
that tofu and PB noodles looks yummy too!
Those things were so fun! I love my little tamagotchi! haha
AMAZING package from VeggieGirl, I wish I got to try those rosemary quackers!
HA! Too funny about the tamagotchi comparison
When we chat, ask me what I used to have to do with it… it’s ridiculous.
Enjoy the 1LD goodies, dear Caroline!
I used to love my tamagotchi! They were all the rage in 2nd grade. Who hasn’t seen a pedometer before though? I can see how that could get annoying!
I thought tamagotchis were so cool back in the day! Do they still make them? Glad your assignment is over- I used to log my intake online and half the stuff wasn’t in the database. So annoying!
I never had a tamogotchi but I was a summer camp counselor the summer that EVERYONE had them. The students wanted nothing to do with camp – they were very focused on their tamogotchi!
I wish I could have Samoa oats – I recently learned I was allergic to coconut. VERY SAD. I love coconut!
Congrats on the book!! I ordered my copy 10 freakin’ days ago from Amazon and still has not arrived. I did get my Ani book which Ive put to great use but I need Sarma, too
Enjoy and can’t wait to see what you’ll make cuz Im gonna be busy in the kitch with my books, too!
Can I have a sip of that shake please?;)
xxx Julia (Taste of Living)
Oh my gosh I totally forgot about tamagotchi’s! Well I never actually had one, but I remember playing with the ones my friend’s had.
Aww that seemed like such a fun assignment, too bad it didn’t work out so well.
And I totally remember tomagotchi, and let’s just say if they were to make a huge comeback in the coming years I’d be the first in line at Toys R Us haha
hahahaha that reminds me how much I LOVED tamagotchis! Doesn’t it make you want to get one now..not even a little bit?
I’m excited for your creations from the cookbook!
that shake looks to die for! I need to start shakin mine up a little bit and makin gthem that tasty.
ohhh veggiegirl is such a sweetheart!
where did you get that red flower-shaped plate? i am loving it girl!
Awesome package from veggie girl! Can’t wait to see more of those cool eats! As for the Tamagotchi…. yeah I had to google that. I didn’t know what that was. Am I weird?? Have I been living under a rock? Ha! Anyway, have a great day!!!

I think your “cement” looks quite lovely. And that Greek salad makes me want to try cottage cheese again (I received a crate to review a few months ago and the CC and I have been spending some time apart).
Sorry about your pedometer woes… I bought a really crappy one a year or so ago and it NEVER worked.
That would be too funny if you were wearing a tamagatchi! I just lost my pedometer
I’ll gladly take yours!
Thanks for the comment! Love the title of your blog
I think your blueberry banana oat bran looks delicious! May have to try the combo myself!
oh I would love to try one lucky duck stuff! That looks awesome!
No worries about the nasty lookin’ oats… who cares about what it looks like if it tastes good!?
Alright, I admit… I always wanted a tamagatchi… you know you wanted one too! Who knows you might of even had one! haha! LUCKY CHILD! (:
Okay commenting on your blog only and then gotta go write my fingers off!!! Hooray for being done with that tamag…I mean pedometer
Cool package!!! SO JEALOUS!!
Have a safe flight home and don’t forget to brainstorm cool shindigs we can have when we’re back!
I can’t live a day without PB either. I would be a very nasty person, I think.
Do they even make Tamagatchis anymore? Geez, I thought those were done when I was in middle school.
