Paid to Shop
Today, as part of my training for my duties next semester, I was paid to shop for groceries. Sweet deal, right? Allow me to explain.
Recently, many of you have been asking about my job, and it occurred to me that I never explained my new position. I currently work part-time for the nutrition department at the institution I attend for graduate classes. Thus far, my duties have been limited to office work, but next semester I will begin work in the food lab, where I will be responsible for maintaining a constant stock of groceries for all the food preparation classes. Translation: I have another excuse to go grocery shopping!
What is one activity that you wish you could be paid to do?
Aside from skipping around Harris Teeter, I ate a few delicious meals today…
Now that I have re-stocked my stash of vegan protein powder, I was ready for some smoothie action this morning.
For lunch I packed a batch of Green Goddess Hummus. I had a few minutes to spare between work and class, so I seize
d the opportunity to eat outside. It would have been refreshing if it weren’t for the woman with a stinky cigarette seated behind me. Ick.
Bar of the Week: Odwalla’s new Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bar! This bar was pretty friggin’ delicious. It tasted like a brownie—as it should with the hefty sugar count I read on the label (17g). The peanut butter chips were drowned in the intense chocolate flavor, but I really enjoyed the bar, nonetheless—I all but licked the wrapper for crumbs. Thanks to Odwalla for the sample!
Dinner was inspired by an old Clean Eating recipe for Grilled Maple Soy Salmon (Summer 2008). I adapted the recipe to my preferences by using tofu instead of salmon and baking it in the oven rather than grilling it. The sesame seeds were also a B-Hut innovation.
Alright. I have some homework and Reader catch-up to do. G’night!
