Peach-Banana Spirutein Shake
Banana. It’s the essential smoothie ingredient in that it pairs so well with so many other fruits and flavors: strawberry-banana, blueberry-banana, banana-and-peanut butter…the list goes on. Recently, however, I discovered that banana pairs exceptionally well with peaches too. Check out the latest addition to my SIAB recipe collection.
(Makes 1 large serving)
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 serving unsweetened Spirutein protein powder
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 3-4 drops NuNaturals vanilla stevia
- 1.5 cups frozen peaches
- 1 small banana
- 1 T wheat germ
- 2 T sliced almonds
Method
1. Place all ingredients except wheat germ and almonds in blender in the order listed. Blend until the mixture reaches a smooth consistency.
2. Pour into a bowl (or large cup) and top with wheat germ and almonds.
3. Bust out the spoon and enjoy.
Notes:
-If you’d prefer, you can omit the vanilla stevia, and add 1/2 tsp vanilla extract and 1 tsp of your desired sweetener.
-I like to include protein powder for both its added nutritional benefit and the milkshake-like texture it lends to the smoothie. However, this recipe would work well with or without the protein powder.
