Peas 'n Sour Cream
I recently stumbled across this photo gallery of America’s Most Hated Foods, and while I mostly disagree with these aversions, some do resonate with me. For example, I detest sour cream and peas (I know, it’s hard to believe that there’s a vegetable I don’t like!), but I simply cannot fathom how someone could not like blueberries. What do you think of the list? What are your most hated foods?
Onto some of my most beloved foods…
Sunday
I recently did a big Spirutein order, so my stash is happily replenished (for now). Last night I was feeling the Peaches N Cream.

Another little treat I ordered for myself recently was The Peanut Butter & Company Cookbook. I’ve had this on my Amazon Wish List for several months, and I finally broke down and ordered it. I’ve derived far too much enjoyment from perusing its pages. Anyway, this morning’s breakfast was inspired by one of the recipes, the Dark Chocolate Dreams Sandwich. Their version featured cherry preserves and shredded coconut, but I made a slightly less sugared version with cherries and bananas.

I was hungry all day today for some inexplicable reason (I ate very well this weekend!), so I made an early lunch using my George Foreman grill. Have I ever mentioned how much I love vegetables?

what lies beneath

While on the plane this weekend, (when I was not conked out), I kept myself entertained with the newest issue of Vegetarian Times. A recipe for Tofu Rancheros piqued my interest for its inclusion of refried beans and avocado. I recreated it tonight, with several changes of course. I omitted the tofu and substituted pureed black beans for the refried (I didn’t have any on hand). It turned out quite fresh and delicious. My tummy has stopped beckoning…for now.

I am starting to get a bit nervous/excited for the Healthy Living Summit. While I am psyched for the events and meeting all the fabulous bloggers…I still have that “first day of school” feeling, i.e., I fear that I won’t have anyone to talk to. Anyone else having a bit of the pre-Summit jitters? Care to be my buddy? Clearly, I am no extravert!
Ciao for now,![]()

Oh man I am RIGHT there with ya! While I am so excited by the prospect of getting to meet the awesome people behind the blogs I follow, I’m nervous too! I’m definitely an introvert as well.
oH! i love love love that you put cherries AND bananas on the peanut butter! genius man!
hated foods? ugh I HATE cream cheese. and steak!
I have to agree with some of the list—I know many people who don’t like cottage cheese, blue cheese, and anchovies. I have to say that I don’t like blue cheese too much myself, but I don’t hate it, I’d eat it if I had to. But some of my most hated foods includes pork and greasy Chinese food (fresh is fine though).
The dark chocolate dreams + cherry sammy combo sounds fabulous! The tostada looks amazing as well!
I’m not an extrovert myself, and would get the jitters too. No worries, I’m sure many of your readers/fans will be there
Darling! Does this mean I get to meet you at the summit??
ahhh, there’s a PB&Co. cookbook?! sign me up! and i would totally talk to you if i were going to the summit! i’m not an extrovert either haha
OMg, I can’t believe ppl actually hate BLUEBERRIES?! WHY?!! They are so awesome!
My most hated food? Rice. Cooked carrots. Brazil nuts.
I’ve been coveting that cookbook for a while too now! Cherries and dark chocolate dreams together sounds decadent.
I can’t really think of any foods I hate lol. I don’t think I like blue cheese, but now that I think of it, I’ve never really given it a chance. Oh, and I don’t really like mayo but not to the point where I’d never eat it. I guess I’m not a picky eater!
hating blueberries is a sin! who wrote this list and where did he or she gather the data to do so?! craziness! and i want your black bean tostada…now…even though i’m still full from my dinner…haha. it looks so good!

Hmm, I actually LOVE peas. Weird, I know. I don’t like beets or radishes, though. Ick!
OH my gosh, I completely disagree with half of the 20 grossest foods! Who hates blueberries?! Or maple syrup??? Or cilantro? A person has to be crazy to hate any of those things…and I love beets and Brussels sprouts too. Hated foods would have to be overcooked celery, and I’m with you on the peas and sour cream. I also LOATHE egg salad, always have, and even the vegan version – “eggless” salad – just doesn’t strike my fancy either.
Marjon tofu grills are one of my favorite items! They are so delicious and zero effort is required to make them that way; this and the international food store’s awesome tofu are the reasons I have given up pressing, draining, and marinating tofu myself.
Awww, have fun at the Summit! I would totally be your buddy if I were coming! After listening to your fridge/pantry video I know I could listen to you talk for hours on end without ever getting bored.
omg that list is so interesting, thanks for sharing! I hate hate hate cilantro, okra, liver, and oysters! But blueberries, how can anyone not like blueberries?! Thats so weird.
Holy yum that toast is out of this world delicious! Love the idea
I used to hate bananas because they don’t seem like fruits for me, but now I love them adding to green monsters and oats!
I guess there’s no hate food really if we just find the right way to have it!
excited about the summit!
That’s an odd list, of course, some foods aren’t for everyone I guess. Personally, eggs are what repulse me. It’s just the thought of the egg being an embryo that freaks me out.
I like most of those foods except for mayo, and sour cream. Yuck!
Love tostadas… way to make a recipe your own!
Hmmm, I don’t like peas either! EWWWW… but I think I can handle split pea soup (which is also on the list)… most of the foods there thought are some of my faves! wieeeeerd!
(:

OMG I am so jealous of your HLS!!! You are going to have a great time and meet up with all kinds of awesome foodies! HAVE NO FEAR!!!
I love peas but I HATE onions!! It’s so hard being a vegetarian who hates onions. Resturants almost ALWAYS add onions to their vegetarian options. I usually end up picking! Anyway, I’m going to have to check out that list and see what other people hate!
