Playing Dress-Up

As I review the pictures of today’s meals, I came to a realization. Although I generally like dressing up myself for special events (which is often far more enjoyable than the event itself), I apparently also delight in dressing up my food these days. Just one look at my condiment shelf provides enough proof:IMG_0978

Apparently, I am just one salty chica;) While most of these items are natural (e.g., natural salad dressings, organic ketchup, etc.), the danger in over-enthusiastically condiment-izing food lies in the sodium content. I don’t track my sodium intake rigidly, but I do make an effort to buy reduced-sodium and no-salt-added canned goods and snacks. As a result of my condiment epiphany, I might try to cut back on the “dressing up” of my food. Then again, I don’t know if I can stay away from the Goddess too long…

What are your favorite condiments and dressings?

Now, onto the salty eats:

Wednesday

The choco-straw-nana acts like a mood-altering drug–I was in such a good mood when I went to sleep last night:)

Savory oats: round three. After my Mexican and Asian oats, I decided to go Italian today. The light mozzarella (alright, alright  it was a sliced up string cheese) added lovely flavor and texture.

the latest addition to my cereal stash

Bear Naked cereal! I can’t wait to dig into this carby-licious treat. My enthusiasm for reading that article was comparatively limited…

I saw Woodstock dressing for the first time on Kath‘s blog last year sometime…I now have her to thank for my addiction. sun-dried tomatoes? Tahini? Yes, please.

The inspiration for tonight’s dinner came from The Peanut Butter and Company Cookbook, specifically from its Peanut Butter Barbecue Chicken recipe. I was all psyched to try it out on tofu–then, upon further inspection, I noticed it required making BBQ sauce from scratch and grilling. I am far too lazy tonight to either concoct a multi-ingredient sauce or clean up a messy George Foreman. Thus, my own version was born. Expect a simplified recipe in the near future…

Before I go, a quick proposition: I am contemplating doing a Q&A post (perhaps a video?) in the near future. What would you like to know? Whether you’re itching to know how I slice my apples or what running shoes I wear, feel free to ask away.

Alright, I am off to dig into my latest Lucky Vitamin order…Spirutein galore!
