Really Dislike
This past week, my organic chemistry professor passed around a piece of paper to the class, asking us to mark which category best describes our enjoyment of the class: “Really like”, “Like,” “Neutral,” “Dislike,” or “Really dislike.” The activity was intended as an informal, anonymous evaluation of the students’ feelings toward the class.
Considering the frequency with which I whine about orgo here on the blog, can you guess which category I chose?
While I “really dislike” playing around with molecular model kits and agonizing over whether that bromine atom is wedge or dash, the part that I truly loathe is this:
Wasting a beautiful spring day on chemistry. I have my third exam of the semester tomorrow, and I’m not looking forward to it at all. Come on summer—hurry up, already!
Is anyone else desperate for summer to arrive?
Here’s what I munched on in the midst of my weekend-long study session.
Saturday
Almond Joy Oats were almost enough to cheer me out of my schoolwork-induced depression.
Lunch was pretty delicious too, featuring an Asian-themed tuna salad.
Egg whites are always fast and filling.
Sunday
This morning, I opted to hone my parfait-making skills.
While summer may not be here quite yet, I lunched like it was the Fourth of July. Veggie burger and cole slaw, please.
Seth lucked into finding some super cheap mango at the store today (15 for $3!), and he was gracious enough to share his bounty with me.
Alright, back to those reaction flash cards. Good night!

Love your almond joy oats!
Its very rare that I like a class
ughh I feel your pain! I had to take it twice, as many other people have probably told you … The only class I ever had to do that for. Boooo!
Good luck!
Coconut butter always cheers up a depressed soul, huh? That always seems to be my trick for raising my mood, as well as exercise, too!
I’m with you, girly! Where the heck is summer when you need it?
3rd exam already! My last exam isn’t until the 29th so it’s going to be a long long term
But perhaps having early ‘summer foods’ will make it feel a bit shorter
The veggie burger and coleslaw is exactly what I’m feeling like!
Pretty funny that a teacher would ask the class to rate how they like it. I’m curious to know what the tally of the answers he got back. Almond joy oats…yum!
Almond joy oats?!?!? OMGshhhh genius! They look delicioussss – can’t wait to try making them!
also my least favorite class ever (actually – 2nd least — anatomy wins that battle. same spatial struggles, more disgusting!)!! i didn’t even mind gen chem or physics but organic – not my friend. that model scares me even today!
Your posts always leave me sooo hungry and wishing I lived next door! Lovin your almond joy oats!
I would eat any one of those dishes. Start cooking for me now!!
