Ringin’ It in Right
Happy New Year! I hope 2010 has treated you all well thus far. Since my last post, my family and I held our own New Years celebration, complete with good eats and Guitar Hero. For full deets, read below…
We started out the evening with some tasty snacks, courtesy of Cedar’s Foods. I was slightly confused by the pita chips’ round shape. Are they chips? Are they crackers? Regardless, they made for delicious vehicles for tzatziki.
Lea also prepared a fruit platter. Not gonna lie, I totally hogged the clementines.
The family was having “make your own kabob” night. Observe the lovely set-up. I may or may not have zoinked a few veggies when no one was looking.
The wine selections of the evening, featuring my favorite Gewurztraminer, plus a variety that seemed perfect for our family gathering:
While the fam was preparing their kabobs, I made some tofu sticks for myself.
Then we played a few games, with some canine company.
As midnight got nearer, the parents departed…and we decided to bust out the “klassy” Korbel.
A few hours and many botched Guitar Hero songs later, we called it a night.
This morning I woke up ravenous for some chow. See? This is what happens when I don’t have my smoothie.
In light of the new year, I decided to keep lunch healthy and simple, the way I would like the upcoming year to be.
Once dinner rolled around, however, my culinary juices started flowing, so I whipped up a batch of Dijon tofu, topped with some toasted walnuts.
With that, I’ll conclude tonight’s post. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hello and welcome! I have created this blog for people who love food, especially healthful, vegetarian food.
I have just graduated from Duke University with degrees in English and psychology. I plan to pursue a master's degree in nutrition starting in Fall 2010. Ideally, I would like to combine my love of food and the written word someday as a health writer.
