Savor It
As I mentioned in my last post, this weekend my parents arrived in town for another short but sweet visit. We spent much of the time spiffing up my apartment (yes, trips to HomeGoods and TJ Maxx were involved), preparing for my pup’s arrival, and eating of course. It’s been a full four months since I last saw my parents, so I have been savoring every minute of time with them.
In fact, I’d like to enjoy this last evening with Mumsy and Dad, so let’s make this a quick one.
How did you savor this past weekend?
Saturday
Before heading to volunteer at the farmers’ market yesterday morning, I fueled up with a smoothie and toast.
Lunch was just a few B-Hut faves piled atop a bed of spinach.
Once the parentals had arrived in town (and the storm had passed!), we all headed out to dinner at Zely & Ritz. You may recall that I took a cooking class there last December. The food was just as delicious as ever, and I love the chef’s emphasis on local foods.
Sunday
I enjoyed a leisurely morning before attending Palm Sunday services—nothing like oat bran to kick the day off right.
For lunch, we returned to The Flying Biscuit, where I ordered a very mediocre version of scrambled tofu. It was extremely oily and not very satisfying. I guess I should just stick to their black bean burger.
We kept a relaxed schedule this evening and hit up McAlister’s for dinner.
Good night, all!

Glad you got to see the rents!
I really need to get on the fruit on fish bandwagon….as much as I love seafood.
How’s being a sometimes pescatarian treating you? Do you love it?
Feel healthier? Do tell! (If you want)
I eat vegan 95% of the time but man, I feel like I need my sea friends.
I still wnat to go fishing though…prove for myself I can “get the job done”
sorry for the blah tofu scramble!! yours look better than that!!
yay taco salads!! i could eat them 3 days a week!
Mmm mmmm those look like some good eats!
What a fun weekend thus far with your parents. Soak up the rest of it
Just saw the horrific NC storms on TV in Australia, hope you’re OK!
Sounds like a nice weekend!
I also savored time at home with my parents and friends. It went by way too quickly!
That’s great to be able to spend the weekend with your parents! It looks like the weekend was filled with lots of good eats (except for the tofu scramble…the ‘fruit salad’ side with the tofu scramble didn’t look that great either haha) But everything else looked tasty!
Glad you had fun with your parents!! Are you happy with the changes to the apartment? SO exciting that the pup will be coming soon. The hummus app looks awesome, as does the taco salad- I must get that the next time I go there.
What a nice weekend with your parents! I always loved when my parents came to visit and we’d go to my favorite places.
glad you are safe and sound! that was crazy weather. i have yet to go to zeily and ritz- def. next on the list!
